Why This Abstract Set Earns Its Place on the Table

A Abstract study built on overlapping colour fields drifting across the canvas, with soft edges where one tone bleeds into the next and a single line of movement threading through. The palette stays in muted terracotta, dusty blue and soft graphite resolved against an off-white ground, and the piece keeps a modern and understated register throughout. Abstract canvases are the safest gift in this craft: they suit any room and carry no subject-matter risk. It is aimed at homes where the small objects on the table have been chosen on purpose. Designed for contemporary interiors, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD559. abstract canvases are the safest gift in this craft: they suit any room and carry no subject-matter risk, and the treatment of the colour is what carries it.

abstract canvases are the safest gift in this craft: they suit any room and carry no subject-matter risk. That makes it straightforward to place in contemporary interiors, where the modern tone already fits.

DOTZSO builds these kits for slow evenings, with a finish good enough to leave out on the table. Box contents run to a colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, a tray, a comfort-grip pen, a wax caddy and a pictorial reference sheet.

Nothing here is decorative-only. The base grips, the cork absorbs, and the drill surface is pressed flat so it survives ordinary use.

The 8-piece format covers seating for a full table without buying twice.

What’s in the Box

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Work through it gradually, then let the finished coasters take their place in daily use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coaster set shipped whole, or in parts to assemble yourself?

Yes. The Abstract coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD559.

Does the Abstract design stay intact with everyday wear?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Abstract design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. There is no delicate stage once the Abstract work is sealed.

How often should the Abstract coaster set be cleaned?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Abstract palette, muted terracotta, dusty blue and soft graphite resolved against an off-white ground tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Nothing abrasive should touch the Abstract surface.

Is the Abstract design a full-coverage project?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Abstract artwork is drawn so that overlapping colour fields drifting across the canvas reads clearly at any distance. The Abstract piece reads as complete once the drilling is done.

What is the pace like on the Abstract coaster set?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Abstract design is modern and understated, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Abstract piece can be paused at any point.

Is the Abstract coaster set easy enough for a casual crafter?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Abstract layout is modern and understated, which helps on a first attempt. Nothing else needs ordering.

Really nice kit, especially for the money. The fall pattern is what drew me in and it didn’t disappoint. The packaging was a little crushed on one corner. Great value for what you get. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

Our old coasters were scratched up, so this was an easy upgrade. My friends all want one now. There were slightly more drills than needed, so it took longer than planned. Happy with it despite the small stuff.

Small enough to take along on a trip. Cork on the bottom stops condensation from sticking them down. The work never felt like a chore. Wish the cork backing were a touch thicker. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

I picked these up to add something handmade to the coffee table. Everything felt well made, from the tools to the drills. The process was straightforward enough to do while chatting. I wish the box were sturdier for storage. The abstract detail is impressive up close. They’ve held up without a single scratch. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

Bought this as a birthday present to myself. Cork on the bottom stops condensation from sticking them down. It’s a calm, repetitive hobby and that’s exactly what I wanted. The edges could be sealed a little better for daily use. It’s become one of my favorite things in the house. Still a solid purchase.

These little coasters are the perfect size for a quick project. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. Great way to slow down at the end of a busy day. Finished piece looks even better in person than in the listing photos. The autumn pattern is what drew me in and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend.

Found this while browsing and couldn’t leave without it. The edges are smooth, so nothing catches on a cloth when I wipe them. The adhesive is plenty sticky, the drills stay exactly where I put them. It’s easy to lose track of time once you get going. Guests always comment on them. This one’s a keeper.

This arrived in perfect condition, nothing bent or spilled. The tray held more than enough drills at a time. The holder is a bit loose so they rattle when moved. They’ve become part of the everyday routine here. It’s a lovely take on a abstract design. Good enough that I’d buy another.

Bought these to replace a tired set and the upgrade is obvious. Finish is even and the whole thing looks tidy once you’re done. I do this on the porch in the summer and it’s lovely. I wish the instructions went into a bit more detail for a first-timer. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. I’d order it again knowing what I know now.
