  • Diamond painting tray

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed case panel flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one section at a time rather than across the whole panel.
  5. Continue until the panel is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface and fit the panel into the case frame once the drills are fully seated.

Finish the panel in stages, then assemble the case and start carrying it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the eyeglass case kit arrive with every part needed for the Abstract design?

Yes. The Abstract eyeglass case kit ships complete with the case body and frame shown in the product images, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q79.

How does the Abstract design hold up over months of use?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Abstract design holds under normal use. The rigid shell is what protects the drills in a bag, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Nothing about the Abstract finish is fragile once it has been sealed.

Can the Abstract surface be wiped with a damp cloth?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Abstract palette, muted terracotta, dusty blue and soft graphite resolved against an off-white ground tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. There is no special product needed for the Abstract surface.

How does the Abstract eyeglass case kit handle background areas?

The panel is drilled across the whole face, so the finished case has complete coverage. The Abstract artwork is drawn so that overlapping colour fields drifting across the canvas reads clearly at any distance. Every section of the Abstract design carries drills.

How many evenings does the Abstract eyeglass case kit take?

Roughly one to two evenings for most people, depending on the pattern density. The Abstract design is modern and understated, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Working the Abstract design in stages keeps it enjoyable.

Can the Abstract design be done with no experience?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the case panel and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Abstract layout is modern and understated, which helps on a first attempt. No extra purchases are required.

  1. Deborah B. (verified owner) –

Finished it in one evening and it turned out adorable. The case is rigid enough that I trust it in my bag. I keep one in the car and one in the house. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. The abstract design is even prettier in person than in the photos. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. If you like abstract designs, this is a good example. A magnetic closure would be nicer than the snap. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  3. WIPsAndWine (verified owner) –

I picked these up as stocking stuffers and they were a hit. The colors read clearly against both my glasses frames. The drills clicked into place without needing much pressure. I like having a project that doesn’t demand much thought. I’ve stopped patting my pockets looking for my glasses. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

I’ve finished four of these now and this might be my favorite. The kit included more than enough drills for the full design. Quiet Sunday mornings with this and a coffee is my favorite part of the week. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. Still glad I ordered it overall.

  5. Nicole F. (verified owner) –

Ordered two kits, this was the one I finished first. The drills have a nice sparkle to them, not dull or flat. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. I’ve been doing it in the evenings with my partner, we take turns on sections. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

I bought this to keep my glasses findable and it works beautifully. Gave these as stocking stuffers and they were a hit. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Overall a good experience.

Finished it in one evening and it turned out adorable. The interior lining is soft, no scratches on my lenses. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. Perfect for a cozy evening in when you want to keep your hands busy. Keeps my readers from getting scratched in my purse. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  8. Sandra R. (verified owner) –

This arrived in perfect condition, nothing bent or spilled. Really neat stitching where the two sides join. The pen and wax worked fine, I didn’t need to dig out my own tools. Really calming, repetitive work, and satisfying when a section is finished. Made these as stocking stuffers for the whole family. The seam is visible if you look closely. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Really nice little project that you actually get to use afterward. Gave these as stocking stuffers and they were a hit. The packaging arrived a little dented. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. Colors match the listing photo really closely. Wish it came in a larger size option. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. Would order again despite the small issues.

  11. Sara Freeman (verified owner) –

This is a genuinely nice kit for the money. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. The loop is snug on thicker frames. Good kit — the notes above are minor.

  12. Samuel Mcdaniel (verified owner) –

This was a practical pick and it turned out pretty too. The fit is snug enough that glasses don’t rattle around. The multi-placer tip took some practice. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. The finished piece has real presence. Happy with it despite the small stuff.

So glad I added this one to my cart. The drills are bright and consistent in size, no weird off-color batches. Really relaxing to do in the evening instead of scrolling. I wish it came in more colour options. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

This arrived on a rainy Tuesday and turned the week around. The closure snaps securely and hasn’t loosened. The seam is visible up close. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. I’ve already ordered more for the rest of the family. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

  15. Kendra Mitchell (verified owner) –

Bought two so I could keep one and gift one. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. A magnetic closure would have been nicer than the snap. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

  16. Grady Reilly (verified owner) –

These make a practical thing feel like a little piece of art. Extra drills were included for every color, which I appreciated. Some colors had very few spare drills. The work is repetitive in a good way. It sits on my nightstand and holds my glasses perfectly. Good kit — the notes above are minor.

Perfect size for a first diamond art project. Finished piece looks even better in person than in the listing photos. A magnetic closure would be nicer than the snap. I went with the abstract version and the colors are lovely. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

I finished mine in an evening and started another. I’ll be ordering from this shop again. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

This was a quick finish and I’ve used it every day since. The interior lining is soft and won’t scratch lenses. The adhesive picked up lint over the days I worked on it. It’s my screen-free hour in the evening. I’m already planning my next one from this shop. Overall a good experience.

This arrived in perfect condition, nothing bent or spilled. The shape holds up and hasn’t gotten squashed. The multi-placer tip took some practice. I did most of it over a lazy weekend and enjoyed every minute. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

  21. Colleen Kramer (verified owner) –

This is the most useful diamond art project I’ve done. The stitching where the sides join is neat. Slightly snug for my oversized sunglasses. I like having a project that doesn’t demand much thought. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  22. Lilian Ledesma (verified owner) –

Really nice little project that you actually get to use afterward. Each color was in its own pouch, clearly numbered. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. Would make a really nice gift, and it arrives boxed nicely. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. Would still recommend it.

  23. Evelyn B. (verified owner) –

Such a clever idea – pretty and actually practical. Finished size is just right for a standard pair of readers. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. The closure is a little stiff at first. Already ordered another one from DOTZSO. Would order again despite the small issues.

The size is right for tossing in a bag. The canvas print is sharp and the symbols are legible. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. I do a section a night with a podcast on. I keep one in the car and one in the house. Still a good kit overall.

Ordered these for my reading glasses and they’ve been great. Roomy inside, my larger sunglasses fit fine. I reach for it every morning for my readers. The interior could use a bit more padding. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

I ordered a set to match each pair of glasses I own. Small enough to slip into a tote without bulk. One bead was slightly off-colour from the rest. It’s my go-to when I need a quiet evening. Solid overall, just a couple of nitpicks.
