What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed case panel
  • 1 × rigid case body / frame
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed case panel flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one section at a time rather than across the whole panel.
  5. Continue until the panel is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface and fit the panel into the case frame once the drills are fully seated.

Work through it at whatever pace suits, then start using the case rather than storing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the eyeglass case kit sold as a kit rather than as separate parts?

Yes. The Bird eyeglass case kit ships complete with the case body and frame shown in the product images, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q56.

How long will the Bird finish last with normal use?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Bird design holds under normal use. The rigid shell is what protects the drills in a bag, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Press the surface flat once you finish and the coverage stays put.

Is the Bird design easy to keep presentable?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Bird palette, rich browns, slate blues and cream tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. There is no special product needed for the Bird surface.

How much of the Bird eyeglass case kit is covered in drills?

The panel is drilled across the whole face, so the finished case has complete coverage. The Bird artwork is drawn so that a bird perched with plumage layered from broad wing feathers to fine breast detail reads clearly at any distance. Coverage is total across the Bird artwork.

How long does the drilling take on the Bird design?

Roughly one to two evenings for most people, depending on the pattern density. The Bird design is alert and natural, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. It suits a routine of half an hour at a time.

Is the Bird project simple enough to learn on?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the case panel and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Bird layout is alert and natural, which helps on a first attempt. The set is complete as shipped.

Bought it for a rainy weekend and it was exactly what I needed. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. Made one for my sister and she asked for two more. The closure is a little stiff at first. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

Bought two, one for my desk and one for my purse. Inside is roomier than I thought, fits my larger sunglasses fine. I keep one in the car and one in the house. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. Overall a good experience.

  3. Tyler B. (verified owner) –

I don’t usually leave reviews but this one deserved it. Really nice little gift that people actually use. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  4. Luis H. (verified owner) –

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m very happy with it. Finished size is just right for a standard pair of readers. I’m really proud of how it turned out. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  5. Ava F. (verified owner) –

I made one for my sunglasses and now I want one for every pair. Nice solid feel, not the flimsy fabric kind. The interior could use a bit more padding. Going to order a few more for Christmas presents. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  6. Edmund Munoz (verified owner) –

Ordered on a Monday, had it by the weekend. The finished piece has no sharp edges near the face. The finished look is polished and put together. Some colors had very few spare drills. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

  7. Isaiah K. (verified owner) –

Really nice little project that you actually get to use afterward. Nice solid feel, not the flimsy fabric kind. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. Quiet Sunday mornings with this and a coffee is my favorite part of the week. Slightly snug for my oversized sunglasses. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. Still a solid purchase.

I ordered these after losing my glasses behind the couch for the tenth time. Nice solid feel, not the flimsy fabric kind. Instructions were minimal, though it’s easy enough to figure out. It’s on my desk at work and people comment on it. I’d order it again knowing what I know now.

These make a practical thing feel like a little piece of art. It’s become part of my daily routine. The tray was smaller than I’d like for a big session. Good enough that I’d buy another.

  10. Crystal Busby –

I’ve tried a few brands and this one holds up well. It’s small enough to toss in a tote without adding bulk. The cord is a hair long for my frame size. It’s practical and it looks nice, which is a rare combination. Still glad I ordered it overall.

  11. Ariana Cortez (verified owner) –

Grabbed this during a late-night scroll and I’m glad I did. The feathered detail is impressive up close. The backing held up fine and didn’t peel anywhere. I work on it while listening to an audiobook and the time just disappears. The cord is a hair long for my frame size. I’ve already had several people ask where it came from. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  12. Paulette Harrison (verified owner) –

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. My glasses are finally where I can find them. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

  13. Phyllis Fink (verified owner) –

Bought a set for the whole family since everyone loses their glasses. The instructions were short but covered everything I needed. I worked on it while the kids did homework. The packaging was a little crushed on one corner. Still a good kit overall.

  14. Wade Mendez (verified owner) –

Been doing these for about two years and this kit is solid. My daughter wants one now after seeing mine. One bag of drills had come open in transit. Would still recommend it.

  15. Lorraine Sparks –

Really nice kit, especially for the money. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. The case is rigid enough to trust in a bag. It’s the kind of thing guests notice right away. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  16. Valeria Carpenter (verified owner) –

This is my fourth kit from DOTZSO and the quality is holding up. The artwork looks even better in person than the photos. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. It lives in my bag and has protected my glasses well. Still a good kit overall.

  17. David Zimmerman (verified owner) –

I made one for my sunglasses and now I want one for every pair. The cord is the right length to rest comfortably on my chest. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Great for unwinding after a busy week. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

  18. Harrison Mckay (verified owner) –

I bought it because I’m always losing my readers and it’s been great. It’s found a permanent spot in the house. It arrives with quite a bit of packaging for the size. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

  19. Janet Bennett –

Small enough to finish in one sitting, which I loved. No missing colors and no shortage on the ones used most. Perfect for a cozy evening in when you want to keep your hands busy. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. The feathered detail is impressive up close. Overall a good experience.

  20. Nathan G. (verified owner) –

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. The interior lining is soft, no scratches on my lenses. Wish it came in a larger size option. Really relaxing to do in the evening instead of scrolling. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

  21. Teresa Cox (verified owner) –

I finished mine in an evening and started another. The hardware is sturdy enough for daily handling. Symbols on the chart are printed clearly enough to follow without guessing. I take it to my book club and work on it while we chat. Gave it to my sister as a gift and it was a big hit. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

Bought this after finishing my last kit and it was a good call. The feathered detail is impressive up close. It’s the most useful thing I’ve made in a while. Instructions were minimal, though it’s easy enough to figure out. Worth it despite the small things.
