Why This Bird Eyeglass Case Earns Its Place in the Bag

This Bird design shows a bird perched with plumage layered from broad wing feathers to fine breast detail, claws gripping a simple branch. The colour work runs through rich browns, slate blues and cream with a bright eye ring — an overall feel that is alert and natural, never busy. Bird studies reward close looking, which makes them a natural fit for hallways and anywhere you walk past. It is for anyone tired of cases that crack at the hinge within a year. Designed for studies, hallways and window-adjacent walls, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference Q96. Bird studies reward close looking, which makes them a natural fit for hallways and anywhere you walk past Wing feathers are worked in overlapping rows so the surface has direction — you can feel the grain of the plumage.

bird studies reward close looking, which makes them a natural fit for hallways and anywhere you walk past. In studies, hallways and window-adjacent walls the piece holds its own against the surrounding colour rather than fighting it.

A DOTZSO case kit suits anyone whose glasses travel further than the bedside table. You receive the printed case panel, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip pen, a wax caddy and clear pictorial instructions.

What makes this a working case is the finishing, not the pattern. Seat the drills fully and the surface holds.

The case panel is drilled in full across the face, so the pattern reads completely once the frame is fitted.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed case panel
  • 1 × rigid case body / frame
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed case panel flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one section at a time rather than across the whole panel.
  5. Continue until the panel is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface and fit the panel into the case frame once the drills are fully seated.

Complete it over a few sessions, then let the case settle into everyday use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the eyeglass case kit for the Bird design sold as one complete unit?

Yes. The Bird eyeglass case kit ships complete with the case body and frame shown in the product images, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q96.

Is the Bird piece reliable once finished?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Bird design holds under normal use. The rigid shell is what protects the drills in a bag, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Nothing in the Bird assembly works loose under normal handling.

How do I keep the Bird surface dust free?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Bird palette, rich browns, slate blues and cream tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Store it dry and the Bird piece needs very little attention.

Is the drill pattern on the Bird eyeglass case kit complete or selective?

The panel is drilled across the whole face, so the finished case has complete coverage. The Bird artwork is drawn so that a bird perched with plumage layered from broad wing feathers to fine breast detail reads clearly at any distance. Coverage on the Bird piece does not vary across the design.

How much time should I set aside for the Bird eyeglass case kit?

Roughly one to two evenings for most people, depending on the pattern density. The Bird design is alert and natural, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. There is no time pressure with the Bird piece.

How simple is the Bird design to follow?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the case panel and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Bird layout is alert and natural, which helps on a first attempt. All materials are included.

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. Going to order a few more for Christmas presents. I love how the feathered colors turned out. A magnetic closure would have been nicer than the snap. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  2. Ralph Blake (verified owner) –

Was looking for something to do with my hands in the evenings. The beads are uniform, so it hangs evenly. I set aside twenty minutes a night for this and it’s become a ritual. The feathered artwork comes together beautifully as you work. A magnetic closure would be nicer than the snap. Would recommend it with those notes.

  3. Alyssa M. (verified owner) –

Bought it as a starter kit for myself and it worked out great. The closure snaps shut properly and hasn’t come loose. The adhesive is plenty sticky, the drills stay exactly where I put them. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. A magnetic closure would have been nicer than the snap. Everyone who sees it asks how long it took. Would order again despite the small issues.

This was a practical pick and it turned out pretty too. Inside is roomier than I thought, fits my larger sunglasses fine. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. The seam is visible if you look closely. Great for unwinding after a busy week. Keeps my readers from getting scratched in my purse. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

This was a practical pick and it turned out pretty too. I went with the bird version and the colors are lovely. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. The stitching where the sides join is neat. Great for unwinding after a busy week. Still a good kit overall.

  6. Edwin Ballard (verified owner) –

These make really thoughtful little gifts. Really neat stitching where the two sides join. There was plenty of margin around the edge for a clean finish. I worked through it over several quiet evenings. Going to order a few more for Christmas presents. I wish there were a larger size option. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

Picked this up during a sale and it was money well spent. I keep one at home and one in the car. It arrives with quite a bit of packaging for the size. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

My third kit from this shop and still really pleased. The cord doesn’t tangle in my bag. A really enjoyable way to pass a rainy afternoon. Made one for my mother and she carries it everywhere. I’d have liked one more spare clasp. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

  9. Crystal Pratt (verified owner) –

Saw a finished version online and tracked down this kit the same day. Everyone who sees it asks how long it took. The packaging was a little plain for a gift. Would order again despite the small issues.

My third kit from this shop and still really pleased. The shape holds up well, hasn’t gotten squashed. The feathered subject matter is right up my street. I’ve stopped patting my pockets looking for my glasses. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  11. Travis D. (verified owner) –

The size is perfect, not bulky in my bag at all. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. The seam is visible if you look closely. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. Would order again despite the small issues.

Really nice little project that you actually get to use afterward. Holds its shape nicely, doesn’t collapse when empty. Slightly snug for my oversized sunglasses. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. Would order again despite the small issues.

  14. Jamal J. (verified owner) –

I bought it because I’m always losing my readers and it’s been great. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. I picked the bird version and the colors are lovely. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  15. Valeria Watkins (verified owner) –

Picked this up because I wanted a hobby that didn’t involve a screen. This is a lovely bird piece for the price. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. A little snug for oversized frames. I did most of it on weekend mornings with coffee. It lives in my bag and hasn’t tangled once. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

Made this for my husband’s sunglasses and he uses it constantly. Practical and pretty, which is rare in a craft. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. The bird detail is impressive up close. Worth it despite the small things.

Bought this after finishing my last kit and it was a good call. My glasses finally have a proper home. Some colors had very few spare drills. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

Really nice kit, especially for the money. My daughter wants one now after seeing mine. The bird motif is what drew me in. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

  20. Delia Hawkins (verified owner) –

Small enough to finish in one sitting, which I loved. The legend was easy to follow and matched the canvas printing. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. I reach for it every morning for my readers. Would still recommend it.

My sister got me into these and this is my latest one. I’ve made several now for family members. The closure is stiff for the first few days. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

  24. Nelson Dixon (verified owner) –

I finished mine in an evening and started another. The drills sit flush so nothing catches on the lining of my purse. The adhesive is plenty sticky, the drills stay exactly where I put them. I do a section a night with a podcast on. It’s the kind of project you feel good about finishing. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Good enough that I’d buy another.

  25. Vincent Wilkinson (verified owner) –

Arrived well packed and ready to start. The shape holds up well, hasn’t gotten squashed. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. I’d recommend it with that one note.

It’s the kind of project that feels creative without being stressful. Really nice little gift that people actually use. Slightly snug for my oversized sunglasses. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

This was a quick finish and I’ve used it every day since. The pen and wax worked fine, I didn’t need to dig out my own tools. I brought it on a weekend trip and finished most of it there. Really nice little gift that people actually use. The interior could use a bit more padding. I’d recommend it with that one note.

Perfect size for a first diamond art project. The drills clicked into place without needing much pressure. This is the kind of craft that’s genuinely calming after a hectic day. It fits perfectly with the decor in the entryway. The interior could use a bit more padding. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

Bought this for my reading glasses and it’s been handy. The kit came complete, nothing extra needed from the craft store. I worked on this during my lunch breaks and it made the days feel better. There were slightly more drills than needed, so it took longer than planned. It looks like something from a home decor shop. Still a solid purchase.
