Why This Cat Eyeglass Case Earns Its Place in the Bag

The Cat motif reads as a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward, fur rendered in overlapping short strokes across the flank and chest here, cleared of clutter and coloured in warm greys and soft browns with bright eye highlights against a tonal background. The mood is calm and companionable, and it holds. Cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. It is for makers who prefer a project with an obvious everyday job. Designed for bedrooms and home offices, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference Q72. The fur direction changes at the shoulder and haunch, and following that line is what makes the finish read as animal rather than pattern Everything else in the design follows from it.

cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. In bedrooms and home offices the piece reads clearly at a glance, which is not true of every design.

DOTZSO makes these cases for people who would rather their eyewear lived in something made than something bought. Everything ships in one box — the printed case panel, DOTZSO resin drills, tray, comfort-grip pen, wax caddy and illustrated guidance.

The drilled panel gets the attention, but the construction does the work. Rigid body, seated drills, sealed surface.

The panel is covered completely, which is what gives the case its solid look.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed case panel
  • 1 × rigid case body / frame
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed case panel flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one section at a time rather than across the whole panel.
  5. Continue until the panel is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface and fit the panel into the case frame once the drills are fully seated.

Finish it in your own time, then put the case in your pocket and forget it is handmade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the eyeglass case kit complete, or is the base sold separately?

Yes. The Cat eyeglass case kit ships complete with the case body and frame shown in the product images, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q72.

Will the Cat surface keep its finish with regular contact?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Cat design holds under normal use. The rigid shell is what protects the drills in a bag, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Nothing in the Cat assembly works loose under normal handling.

How do I keep the Cat eyeglass case kit in good order?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Cat palette, warm greys and soft browns tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Avoid dishwashers entirely for the Cat piece.

Is the Cat eyeglass case kit a full coverage piece?

The panel is drilled across the whole face, so the finished case has complete coverage. The Cat artwork is drawn so that a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward reads clearly at any distance. Nothing on the Cat face is left as plain surface.

How long does it take to work the Cat design?

Roughly one to two evenings for most people, depending on the pattern density. The Cat design is calm and companionable, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Progress on the Cat piece is visibly steady.

Can the Cat eyeglass case kit be done by a child with help?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the case panel and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Cat layout is calm and companionable, which helps on a first attempt. Everything ships together in one box.

Finished it in one evening and it turned out adorable. Inside is roomier than I thought, fits my larger sunglasses fine. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. Already ordered another one from DOTZSO. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

I bought it because I’m always losing my readers and it’s been great. Mine lives in my tote bag and has saved my sunglasses more than once. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Finished it in one evening and it turned out adorable. Finished piece looks even better in person than in the listing photos. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  4. Katherine S. (verified owner) –

This is the most useful diamond art project I’ve done. Holds its shape nicely, doesn’t collapse when empty. The cat subject is rendered with more detail than I expected. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. No missing colors and no shortage on the ones used most. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. Gave one to my mom for Mother’s Day and she carries it everywhere. Would order again despite the small issues.

  5. Donna Pineda (verified owner) –

Nice to make something I actually reach for daily. The drills arrived clean, not stuck together in clumps. Great way to slow down at the end of a busy day. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Really nice little gift that people actually use. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

These make really thoughtful little gifts. I keep one at home and one in the car. The seam is visible if you look closely. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

  7. Christopher Carlisle (verified owner) –

Bought these for my desk at work and they get compliments constantly. The drills sit flush so nothing catches on the lining of my purse. I did a little at a time and it never felt like a slog. A few drills had rough edges that needed picking off. It gets noticed every time I use it. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Bought two, one for my desk and one for my purse. It’s a lovely take on a cat design. The hardware is sturdy enough for daily handling. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. It was easy to pick up and put down without losing my place. Already ordered another one from DOTZSO. Still a good kit overall.

  9. John Wade (verified owner) –

Picked these up for my mom and immediately ordered more. The drills are bright and consistent in size, no weird off-color batches. I like that it’s creative without requiring any decisions. The closure is a little stiff at first. My daughter wants one now after seeing mine. Still a solid purchase.

Picked these up for my mom and immediately ordered more. The tweezers included were actually good quality. Perfect for winding down before bed, much better than watching another show. I wish the instructions went into a bit more detail for a first-timer. Overall a good experience.

  11. Kelsey Chatman (verified owner) –

I made one for my sunglasses and now I want one for every pair. The finished piece has no sharp edges near the face. The drills are uniform and sit flat with no gaps. I found the whole thing very easy to settle into. A few drills were stuck together and needed separating. Very pleased with how it came together. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

  12. Crystal E. (verified owner) –

Small enough to finish in one sitting, which I loved. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. The sorting tray is shallow, drills spill out if you’re not careful. Still worth it overall.

Got this for my purse so my glasses stop floating around loose. It makes a lovely gift and arrives nicely packaged. The included pen wore out partway through. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

  14. Sabrina Tanner (verified owner) –

I wanted something I could pick up for twenty minutes at a time. Nice solid feel, not the flimsy fabric kind. It’s satisfying to watch a section fill in. I use it every day for my reading glasses. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  15. Eunice Mccarthy (verified owner) –

These were a small, easy project and a genuinely useful one. The case is rigid enough to trust in a bag. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. The artwork looks even better in person than the photos. The tray included is on the small side. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  16. Sonya Yates –

I’m a repeat DOTZSO customer at this point and this kit did not disappoint. Roomy inside, my larger sunglasses fit fine. The cat colors are richer than the photos show. This is the kind of craft that’s genuinely calming after a hectic day. The adhesive picked up lint over the days I worked on it. I keep one at home and one in the car. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  17. Miriam Reid (verified owner) –

The size is perfect, not bulky in my bag at all. Definitely ordering more as gifts. Some colors had very few spare drills. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

Bought two, one for my desk and one for my purse. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. It sits on my nightstand and holds my glasses perfectly. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

These make really thoughtful little gifts. Nothing arrived damaged, and everything was sealed properly. It’s easy to pick up and put down, which suits my schedule. Keeps my readers from getting scratched in my purse. The seam is visible up close. Would still recommend it.

I ordered this the day after finishing my last project. The sparkle on these drills is genuinely nice. The work is repetitive in a good way. Perfect for keeping my glasses safe in my handbag. The included pen wore out partway through. Minor gripes aside, I’d buy it again.

Grabbed this during a late-night scroll and I’m glad I did. The colors stay true once it’s finished. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. I’d have preferred more spare drills in the least-used color. Still a solid purchase.

  23. Lindsey Potts (verified owner) –

Bought two, one for my desk and one for my purse. Finished size is just right for a standard pair of readers. The kitty colors are richer than the photos show. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. I like having a project that doesn’t demand much thought. It’s found a permanent spot in the house. The tray included is on the small side. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. Nice solid feel, not the flimsy fabric kind. It’s the kind of project that feels creative without being stressful. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

This one caught my eye on the new arrivals page. Everything I needed was in the box – pen, wax, tray and tweezers. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. Instructions were minimal, though it’s easy enough to figure out. I reach for it every morning for my readers. Still a solid purchase.

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. It’s a small piece that does real work. A magnetic closure would be nicer than the snap. The kitty subject matter is right up my street. Worth it despite the small things.
