Why This Cat Eyeglass Case Earns Its Place in the Bag

This piece takes a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward, fur rendered in overlapping short strokes across the flank and chest as its subject, rendered in warm greys and soft browns with bright eye highlights against a tonal background. The mood settles at calm and companionable, which is what keeps it easy to live with. Cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. It fits anyone who has lost a case and wants the replacement to be worth keeping. Designed for bedrooms and home offices, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference Q58. Cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it It is also why the piece keeps working after the novelty fades.

cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. That is what lets it hold bedrooms and home offices together with a single calm accent.

A DOTZSO case kit is assembled for quiet sessions and a result that gets handled daily. Each kit ships with the printed case panel, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip pen, a wax caddy and a pictorial reference.

A case stays in use if it handles daily carry. That is what the sealed panel and seated drills are for.

Edge-to-edge coverage on the panel is what makes the case read as a finished object.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed case panel
  • 1 × rigid case body / frame
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed case panel flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one section at a time rather than across the whole panel.
  5. Continue until the panel is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface and fit the panel into the case frame once the drills are fully seated.

Work at whatever speed you like, then move the finished case straight into daily use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there hidden extras needed for the Cat eyeglass case kit?

Yes. The Cat eyeglass case kit ships complete with the case body and frame shown in the product images, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q58.

Is the Cat surface tough enough for daily contact?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Cat design holds under normal use. The rigid shell is what protects the drills in a bag, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Light contact and normal carrying cause no lift on the Cat surface.

Can the Cat eyeglass case kit get wet?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Cat palette, warm greys and soft browns tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. The Cat surface is not built for immersion.

Is the Cat artwork partially printed or fully drilled?

The panel is drilled across the whole face, so the finished case has complete coverage. The Cat artwork is drawn so that a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward reads clearly at any distance. The Cat face is drilled as a single continuous field.

Can the Cat eyeglass case kit be done in stages?

Roughly one to two evenings for most people, depending on the pattern density. The Cat design is calm and companionable, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. It works well as an ongoing project.

Can the Cat design be done with no experience?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the case panel and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Cat layout is calm and companionable, which helps on a first attempt. The kit is complete on delivery.

Small enough to finish in one sitting, which I loved. It’s small enough to toss in a tote without adding bulk. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. Keeps my readers from getting scratched in my purse. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Ordered this as a small pick-me-up and it worked. The hardware is sturdy enough for daily handling. The tray included is on the small side. Something about placing the drills is very settling. The kitty colors are richer than the photos show. Small things aside, it’s a good buy.

  3. Savannah B. (verified owner) –

The size is perfect, not bulky in my bag at all. I love how the cat colors turned out. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. My friends all want one now. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

My husband picked this out for me and he chose well. The fit is snug enough that glasses don’t rattle around. Keeps my readers from getting scratched in my purse. It arrives with quite a bit of packaging for the size. Good enough that I’d buy another.

  5. Claire Coley –

This arrived in perfect condition, nothing bent or spilled. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. This one might be my favorite finish yet. It arrives with quite a bit of packaging for the size. Would recommend it with those notes.

  6. Eloise Power –

These are the cutest way to keep a pair of glasses where I can see them. My sister asked me to make her two more. The cord is a hair long for my frame size. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

  7. Brian K. (verified owner) –

Bought two, one for my desk and one for my purse. Finished size is just right for a standard pair of readers. The kitty palette is softer in person, which I actually prefer. I’m really proud of how it turned out. The seam is visible if you look closely. Would order again despite the small issues.

  8. Ted Keane (verified owner) –

Small enough to finish in one sitting, which I loved. Roomy inside, my larger sunglasses fit fine. I do this on the porch in the summer and it’s lovely. It’s the most useful thing I’ve made in a while. The interior could use a bit more padding. Overall a good experience.

  9. Jackie Sosa (verified owner) –

I bought it because I’m always losing my readers and it’s been great. Really neat stitching where the two sides join. Everything felt well made, from the tools to the drills. A magnetic closure would be nicer than the snap. I worked on this with my mother and we both got absorbed in it. Made these as stocking stuffers for the whole family. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

The size is perfect, not bulky in my bag at all. Really nice little gift that people actually use. The closure is a little stiff at first. The cat detail is impressive up close. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  11. Walter Crouch (verified owner) –

Nice to make something I actually reach for daily. The case is rigid enough that I trust it in my bag. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. Practical and pretty, which is a rare combination. The tray was smaller than I’d like for a big session. Still glad I ordered it overall.

  12. Madeline Melendez –

This one caught my eye on the new arrivals page. Roomy inside, my larger sunglasses fit fine. Gave these as stocking stuffers and they were a hit. One bag of drills had come open in transit. Overall a good experience.

Finished it in one evening and it turned out adorable. Drill colors are well separated, no squinting to tell two shades apart. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. Wish it came in a larger size option. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

Second time ordering this style, still happy with it. It’s small enough to toss in a tote without adding bulk. It’s on my desk at work and people always comment on it. Slightly snug for my oversized sunglasses. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  15. Ryan K. (verified owner) –

This one caught my eye and I’m glad it did. Finished size is just right for a standard pair of readers. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. I use it every day for my reading glasses. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  16. Russ Ross –

Got this for my mom and she uses it every single day. Roomy inside, my larger sunglasses fit fine. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. I’ve made several now for family members. Would still recommend it.

  17. Gloria V. (verified owner) –

Small enough to finish in one sitting, which I loved. The adhesive is plenty sticky, the drills stay exactly where I put them. The interior could use a bit more padding. It’s the kind of project that feels creative without being stressful. Made these as stocking stuffers for the whole family. Still a solid purchase.
