Ornament wooden tray kit by DOTZSO — a bauble hanging from a ribbon with a domed highlight in rich red and gold. The domed highlight is worked in bright drills against the darker body, which is what makes the bauble look spherical rather than circular. Why This Ornament Tray Earns Its Place on the Table

The Ornament artwork frames a bauble hanging from a ribbon with a domed highlight, patterned across its surface and finished with a metallic cap, worked in rich red and gold with a deep green ground and white highlight. The overall character is festive and bold rather than theatrical. Single-ornament motifs suit people who want the season on the wall without a full scene. It suits a home where the counter objects have been chosen on purpose. Designed for Christmas trees and seasonal displays, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference CP10. single-ornament motifs suit people who want the season on the wall without a full scene. Hung in Christmas trees and seasonal displays, it reads as part of the room rather than an addition to it.

Everything DOTZSO supplies here is aimed at a tray sturdy enough for regular service. What is in the box: the printed wooden tray, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and a pictorial instruction sheet.

A tray stays out on the counter if it can take a hot mug. That is what the sealed surface and solid body are for.

Coverage runs across the whole tray face, so nothing is left printed-only.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed wooden tray with cut-in handles
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed tray face flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than across the whole tray.
  5. Continue until the face is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface fully before the tray goes into service, or the drills will lift under a plate.

Complete it over a few sessions, then let the tray settle into everyday use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this wooden tray kit self-contained, or does it need extra supplies?

Yes. The Ornament wooden tray kit ships complete with the wooden tray and cut-in handles; you drill the printed face and then the tray goes into service, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference CP10.

Will the drills stay put on the Ornament design with daily handling?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Ornament design holds under normal use. The surface is sealed, so it handles mugs and plates in normal use. Very hot pans straight from the hob are another matter — use a trivet, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Give the seal a full cure and the Ornament finish will hold.

How do I keep the Ornament wooden tray kit looking its best?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Ornament palette, rich red and gold tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Dust with a dry cloth rather than a wet one where possible.

Is the entire Ornament surface drilled?

The face is drilled across the whole surface, so the finished tray has complete coverage without bare wood showing. The Ornament artwork is drawn so that a bauble hanging from a ribbon with a domed highlight reads clearly at any distance. The Ornament face has no deliberately exposed areas.

What is the estimated build time for the Ornament design?

Plan for a few sessions rather than one. Working a single colour block at a time is faster than moving across the tray at random. The Ornament design is festive and bold, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Ornament pattern is easy to work in short bursts.

Is the Ornament wooden tray kit available in a smaller format?

The range covers 7.8 × 11.8 in, 9.8 × 13.8 in and 12.2 × 16.1 in, so there is a format for a bedside table or a full dinner service. This listing is the 7.8×11.8 in format. Reference CP10.

Bought it for a rainy weekend and it was exactly what I needed. The base is flat and doesn’t rock on the table. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. You’ll want to seal it yourself if you’re putting wet glasses on it. Would order again despite the small issues.

This one caught my eye and I’m glad it did. Surface is flat and level, glasses don’t wobble on it. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. Great value for what you get. You’ll want to seal it yourself if you’re putting wet glasses on it. Still a solid purchase.

I’ve wanted one of these trays for ages and finally made one. The wood is thick and finished smoothly, no splinters anywhere. The drilled panel sits slightly proud of the rim. Great gift for anyone who likes hosting. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  4. Trevor D. (verified owner) –

I use mine for morning coffee and it’s held up well. Great gift for anyone who likes hosting. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  5. Kari Brennan –

Was looking for something to do with my hands in the evenings. The drill panel sits flush with the tray surface. I’ll be buying more from this shop. The wood arrived with one small scuff on the side. Worth it despite the small things.

  6. Jing Sharp –

My daughter chose this one for us to work on together. The wood is thick and finished smoothly, no splinters anywhere. It’s my screen-free hour in the evening. It’s organized the whole surface with one addition. Only one finish is available, which is limiting. Still worth it overall.

  7. Noah Wilder –

This was a fun change of pace from the usual canvas kits. It’s on the bathroom counter and looks intentional. It’s slightly heavier than I expected. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

I keep coming back to this shop because the quality is consistent. Everyone who sees it asks how long it took. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

I wanted something I could pick up for twenty minutes at a time. I keep remotes and candles on it when it’s not in use. A few drills had rough edges that needed picking off. Overall happy, just a few small things.

  10. Ken Walters (verified owner) –

Something about a functional project makes it more satisfying. The legend was easy to follow and matched the canvas printing. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. The rim could be a touch deeper. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

This arrived in perfect condition, nothing bent or spilled. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. I work on it while listening to an audiobook and the time just disappears. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  12. Luther Warren –

Ordered two of these and gave one away as a gift. The tray has real weight to it, feels like serveware. One bag of drills had come open in transit. Holds two mugs and a plate easily. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

  13. Brian Hernandez –

Made this for our coffee table and get compliments on it constantly. It turned out better than I pictured. The adhesive picked up lint over the days I worked on it. Worth it despite the small things.

  14. Rosemary Ramos –

Bought it as a housewarming gift and it was a hit. The kit came complete, nothing extra needed from the craft store. The tray included is on the small side. Surprisingly calming, even for someone with a short attention span. Would still recommend it.

  15. Dale Wise (verified owner) –

Finished it over a weekend and it looks great on the ottoman. This one might be my favorite finish yet. There were slightly more drills than needed, so it took longer than planned. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

  16. Heidi Harbin (verified owner) –

The wood base makes this feel like real decor. It’s sized right for two mugs and a small plate. Perfect for winding down before bed, much better than watching another show. The included pen wore out partway through. Overall happy, just a few small things.

Gave one to my in-laws and they display it proudly. The base is flat and doesn’t rock on the table. The drills clicked into place without needing much pressure. It’s my screen-free hour in the evening. I wish it came pre-sealed. It’s earned a spot on the wall. Overall happy, just a few small things.

This arrived in perfect condition, nothing bent or spilled. Makes a lovely gift for anyone who hosts. Wish it came with a protective finish already applied. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

I use mine for morning coffee and it’s held up well. The drilled section is recessed and protected from spills. Perfect for winding down before bed, much better than watching another show. It sits by the door catching keys and mail. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

I use mine every morning for coffee. The handles are cut comfortably and easy to grip. The drills clicked into place without needing much pressure. I find it relaxing to just follow the chart and let my mind wander. Wish it came with a protective finish already applied. Made one for my mother-in-law and she was delighted. I’d recommend it with that one note.

Something about a functional project makes it more satisfying. The drills have a nice sparkle to them, not dull or flat. The drilled panel sits slightly proud of the rim. Gave it to my daughter-in-law as a gift and it was a big hit. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

I use mine for morning coffee and it’s held up well. Wood feels solid, much better than the thin pressed board I’ve seen. You’ll want to seal it yourself if you’re putting wet glasses on it. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. Already ordered another one from DOTZSO. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

This was my first tray kit and I’d do another. The handles are cut comfortably and easy to grip. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. I did this with my friend on the weekends and we both got into it. It looks like something from a home decor shop. The drilled panel sits slightly proud of the rim. I’d recommend it with that one note.

Heavier and nicer in person than it looked online. Handles are sturdy, I can carry a full mug without worrying. The pen was fine, though I ended up using my own. It’s tidied up a spot that had been a mess for months. Worth it despite the small things.
