Why This Mandala Tray Earns Its Place on the Table

A Mandala rendering of a symmetrical mandala built in concentric rings, each band moving from geometric spokes to fine petal work toward the outer edge in balanced jewel tones on a deep ground so the symmetry stays legible, holding a focused and meditative tone that suits a room people actually use. Mandala work is chosen as much for the doing as the result — the symmetry turns placement into a ritual. It is designed for daily service rather than occasional entertaining. Designed for meditation corners and home studios, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference CP05-1. Mandala work is chosen as much for the doing as the result — the symmetry turns placement into a ritual It is why the piece sits calmly in a room rather than announcing itself.

mandala work is chosen as much for the doing as the result — the symmetry turns placement into a ritual. It fits meditation corners and home studios on its own terms, which is the only test that matters.

This DOTZSO kit suits anyone who likes a project that improves the room when it is done. The kit includes the printed wooden tray, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial steps.

The tray body is the part that matters. The printed surface is sealed after the drills are seated, so the tray takes hot mugs and plates without marking.

Working the base in full drill is what makes the tray look made rather than part-finished.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed wooden tray with cut-in handles
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed tray face flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than across the whole tray.
  5. Continue until the face is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface fully before the tray goes into service, or the drills will lift under a plate.

Take it one colour at a time, and let the finished tray move onto the counter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the wooden tray kit a full set or a partial one?

Yes. The Mandala wooden tray kit ships complete with the wooden tray and cut-in handles; you drill the printed face and then the tray goes into service, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference CP05-1.

Is the Mandala work fixed securely once complete?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Mandala design holds under normal use. The surface is sealed, so it handles mugs and plates in normal use. Very hot pans straight from the hob are another matter — use a trivet, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Nothing about the Mandala finish is fragile once it has been sealed.

How do I protect the Mandala finish long term?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Mandala palette, balanced jewel tones on a deep ground so the symmetry stays legible tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. The Mandala finish prefers dry methods to wet ones.

Is the Mandala wooden tray kit drilled across the whole surface?

The face is drilled across the whole surface, so the finished tray has complete coverage without bare wood showing. The Mandala artwork is drawn so that a symmetrical mandala built in concentric rings reads clearly at any distance. The Mandala drilling runs the full extent of the face.

How long is the Mandala design from start to finish?

Plan for a few sessions rather than one. Working a single colour block at a time is faster than moving across the tray at random. The Mandala design is focused and meditative, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Mandala pattern builds up quickly once the colour blocks start.

Are the Mandala sizes listed clearly?

The range covers 7.8 × 11.8 in, 9.8 × 13.8 in and 12.2 × 16.1 in, so there is a format for a bedside table or a full dinner service. This listing is the 9.8×13.8 in format. Reference CP05-1.

I’m a repeat DOTZSO customer at this point and this kit did not disappoint. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. Handles are a bit narrow for larger hands. The handles make it genuinely practical, not just decorative. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

I use mine for morning coffee and it’s held up well. The drilled panel is recessed so it’s protected from spills. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Bought it as a housewarming gift and it was a hit. Surface is flat and level, glasses don’t wobble on it. Already ordered another one from DOTZSO. Can’t wait to start the next one.

Bought it as a housewarming gift and it was a hit. The mandala-style palette is softer in person, which I actually prefer. I’ve had three people ask me where I bought it. Can’t wait to start the next one.

Heavier and nicer in person than it looked online. I love how the mandala-style colors turned out. Handles are cut well and comfortable to actually carry. The drilled panel sits slightly proud of the rim. Really calming, repetitive work, and satisfying when a section is finished. I’ll be buying more from this shop. Would order again despite the small issues.

The handles make it feel like real serveware, not just a craft. I’ll be buying more from this shop. Not something I’d put in the dishwasher or soak, obviously. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

Made this as a wedding gift and it was a big hit. Everything I needed was in the box – pen, wax, tray and tweezers. I found it genuinely enjoyable rather than just something to finish. It sits by the door catching keys and mail. Delighted with how it turned out.

I use mine every morning for coffee. Everything was bagged and labeled, so setup took five minutes. I worked on it a little each evening and it added up quickly. Shipping took a bit longer than the estimate. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

This was a step up from the smaller kits and I enjoyed it. It’s practical and it looks good doing the job. The adhesive picked up lint over the days I worked on it. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

I bought this to fill the gap between bigger projects. The mandala-style motif makes it feel special. No missing colors and no shortage on the ones used most. I did this with my cousin on the weekends and we both got into it. You’ll want to seal it yourself if you’ll set wet glasses on it. Overall a good experience.

I’ve been doing these for about a year and this is a solid kit. The wood base has a nice weight to it, feels like real serveware. I brought it on a week at the lake and finished most of it there. The handles make it genuinely useful, not just decorative. Two thumbs up.

This tray kit felt like a real step up from the flat canvases. I keep remotes and coasters on mine when it’s not in use. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Overall a good experience.

The wood base makes this feel like real decor. Spare drills were included, which I appreciated. I’d have preferred more spare drills in the least-used color. It’s become a fixture in the living room. The mandala subject matter is right up my street. Still worth it overall.

Bought this after finishing my last kit and it was a good call. The mandala pattern is what made me choose this one. The surface is flat and level, glasses don’t wobble. I wish it came pre-sealed. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. It looks great from a distance and holds up close. I’d recommend it with that one note.

I’ve done a handful of these now and this one is up there with the best. The handles make it genuinely practical, not just decorative. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Good kit — the notes above are minor.
