Why This Butterfly Set Earns Its Place on the Table

A Butterfly study built on a butterfly with wings held open, each panel showing graded colour from deep centre to translucent edge, antennae and body picked out in fine detail. The palette stays in iridescent blues and violets shifting toward warm orange at the wing edges, and the piece keeps a delicate and alive register throughout. Butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it. It is designed for regular use in a busy house, not occasional display. Designed for hallways and entryways, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD055. Butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it. Wing panels are worked as separate colour zones, so the shimmer shifts as you move past the finished piece.

butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it. That makes it straightforward to place in hallways and entryways, where the delicate tone already fits.

Every DOTZSO diamond painting kit is built for people who want the make to feel calm and the result to be something they actually use. Contents: colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, sorting tray, comfort-grip pen, wax caddy and illustrated step-by-step instructions.

The construction is deliberately simple: anti-slip body, cork backing, seated drill surface. That combination is what keeps the set out of a drawer.

The set runs to 6 coasters, each on the same cork-backed base for a consistent feel in the hand.

What’s in the Box

  • 6 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Complete the set over a few quiet evenings, then put it to work — these are made to be handled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coaster set for the Butterfly design sold as one complete unit?

Yes. The Butterfly coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD055.

How solid is the finish on the Butterfly coaster set?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Butterfly design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The Butterfly finish is designed to be used, not just looked at.

How do I keep the Butterfly coaster set looking new?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Butterfly palette, iridescent blues and violets shifting toward warm orange at the wing edges tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Regular light cleaning keeps the Butterfly finish crisp.

How consistent is the coverage on the Butterfly coaster set?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Butterfly artwork is drawn so that a butterfly with wings held open reads clearly at any distance. Every part of the Butterfly design is worked.

Is the Butterfly coaster set a single-session project?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Butterfly design is delicate and alive, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Butterfly pattern builds up quickly once the colour blocks start.

Is the Butterfly project appropriate for absolute beginners?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Butterfly layout is delicate and alive, which helps on a first attempt. The kit arrives ready to begin.

This one caught my eye and I’m glad it did. The drills are bright and consistent in size, no weird off-color batches. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the coffee table. One of the 6 coasters had a slightly off-center print. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. They’re a nice size for a standard mug, and even a wider tumbler fits. The butterfly pattern is what drew me in and it didn’t disappoint. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. Can’t wait to start the next one.

Honestly better quality than I expected for the price. The drills sit nice and flush, no gaps showing the surface underneath. I do this on the porch in the summer and it’s lovely. Made a set for my book club and everyone wanted the link. Worth every penny.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. Really relaxing to do in the evening instead of scrolling. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. Five stars from me.

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. The pen and wax worked fine, I didn’t need to dig out my own tools. I like having something mindful to do that doesn’t need a screen. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the coffee table. Perfect for a cozy evening project.

Was looking for a small diamond art project and these nailed it. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. Finish is even and the whole thing looks tidy once you’re done. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. We actually use them every day, not just display them. Great kit, no complaints.

These coasters have become the little project I look forward to. The sparkle on these drills is genuinely nice. Everyone who comes over picks one up to look at it. The set is eight, which is more than I strictly needed. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

Ordered this as a small pick-me-up and it worked. It holds up to a close look, which matters more than I expected. The sorting tray is shallow, drills spill out if you’re not careful. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket and this was the pick. Drill colors are well separated, no squinting to tell two shades apart. Genuinely peaceful to work on one row at a time. The holder is a bit loose so they rattle when moved. Good enough that I’d buy another.

Such a fun format – one coaster at a time, no big commitment. The winged pattern is what drew me in and it didn’t disappoint. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. Wish the cork backing were a touch thicker. Would order again despite the small issues.

I bought two sets so I could gift one and keep one. Cork on the bottom stops condensation from sticking them down. I’d prefer slightly thicker cork on the base. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. I chose this one for the winged look. Overall a good experience.

Bought a set for the camper and they’ve been great. The cork is dense, not the crumbly kind that sheds. The butterfly artwork comes together beautifully as you work. I brought it on a week at the lake and finished most of it there. Will be back for more.
