The fur direction changes at the shoulder and haunch, and following that line is what makes the finish read as animal rather than pattern. It is for people whose crafts need to end in something with a function. Why This Cat Set Earns Its Place on the Table

This canvas takes a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward, fur rendered in overlapping short strokes across the flank and chest as its subject, rendered in warm greys and soft browns with bright eye highlights against a tonal background. The mood settles at calm and companionable, which is what keeps it easy to live with. Cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. It suits people who like their craft projects to disappear into daily life. Designed for bedrooms and home offices, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD649. Cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it It is also why the piece keeps working after the novelty fades.

cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. In bedrooms and home offices the piece holds its own against the surrounding colour rather than fighting it.

Each DOTZSO set is put together so the session passes quietly and the table ends up better for it. You receive a colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip pen, a wax caddy and clear pictorial instructions.

What separates a usable coaster set from a decorative one is the base. The cork backing stops condensation reaching the table, which is the detail most diamond art sets skip.

The 6 pieces share one palette, which keeps the set coherent whether stacked or scattered.

What’s in the Box

  • 6 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Go through the set one piece at a time, then let the finished work earn its keep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Cat coaster set delivered as one complete package?

Yes. The Cat coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD649.

Will the drills stay put on the Cat design with daily handling?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Cat design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Handling the Cat piece normally will not disturb the drills.

What is the best way to keep the Cat coaster set tidy?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Cat palette, warm greys and soft browns tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Keeping the Cat piece dust-free is the whole routine.

Is the Cat design full drill or partial drill?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Cat artwork is drawn so that a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward reads clearly at any distance. That applies across the whole Cat face.

How long will the Cat coaster set take overall?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Cat design is calm and companionable, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Cat piece is easy to spread over several sittings.

Can a complete beginner finish the Cat coaster set?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Cat layout is calm and companionable, which helps on a first attempt. The kit arrives ready to begin.

  1. Christopher T. –

Honestly better quality than I expected for the price. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the coffee table. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. Still a solid purchase.

I made one the first night just to see how it went, then did the rest over the week. The pen and wax worked fine, I didn’t need to dig out my own tools. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. They look great on the sideboard and are genuinely useful. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. The finished piece gets compliments from everyone who visits. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. Still worth it overall.

Really nice kit, especially for the money. The cat palette works really well with the design. The cork base means no scratches and no condensation rings. The holder finish doesn’t quite match the coasters. It’s satisfying to watch a section fill in. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  5. Richard Kerr (verified owner) –

This arrived in perfect condition, nothing bent or spilled. The set looks cohesive and well made on the shelf. I wish the box were sturdier for storage. Still a good kit overall.

  6. Tyrone Payne –

I made one the first night just to see how it went, then did the rest over the week. The base is thick enough that they don’t feel flimsy. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. My friends all want one now. The holder is a bit loose so they rattle when moved. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

  7. Ila Bray (verified owner) –

Such a fun format – one coaster at a time, no big commitment. They wipe clean easily, which matters with kids around. The edges could be sealed a little better for daily use. They’ve replaced the store-bought ones entirely. I’d order it again knowing what I know now.

  8. Willard Holt (verified owner) –

Such a nice little project to have on the go. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

Bought a set for the camper and they’ve been great. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. The packaging arrived a little dented. Minor gripes aside, I’d buy it again.

Honestly better quality than I expected for the price. The kitchen subject is rendered with more detail than I expected. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  11. Violet Hopper –

I ordered this set for our new apartment. Nothing arrived damaged, and everything was sealed properly. The kitty motif makes it feel special. The pen grip stayed comfortable through long sessions. I like that it’s creative without requiring any decisions. The packaging was a little crushed on one corner. Great housewarming gift, small and thoughtful. Still glad I ordered it overall.

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. The kitchen pattern is what drew me in and it didn’t disappoint. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. The finished piece gets compliments from everyone who visits. I’d recommend it with that one note.

Arrived well packed and ready to start. Everything I needed was in the box – pen, wax, tray and tweezers. I take it on the porch in the evenings when the weather is nice. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Would still recommend it.

Bought these for our patio table and they look charming. They’re a nice size for a standard mug, and even a wider tumbler fits. Took a bit longer to arrive than I expected. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the coffee table. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

Small enough to take along on a trip. Cork on the bottom stops condensation from sticking them down. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. The edges could be sealed a little better for daily use. The set looks cohesive and well made on the shelf. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

Grabbed this on a whim after a long week. The tray and tweezers included were better than I expected. Great way to slow down at the end of a busy day. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. It only comes in sets, so I couldn’t buy a single extra. I’ll be ordering from this shop again. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

I made one the first night just to see how it went, then did the rest over the week. Colors match the listing photo really closely. The canvas print is sharp and the symbols are legible. It’s become the quiet part of my day that I look forward to. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. They’ve become part of the everyday routine here. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

I keep coming back to this shop because the quality is consistent. The kitty colors are richer than the photos show. Really pleased with how it turned out. The included pen wore out partway through. Would order again despite the small issues.

I keep coming back to this shop because the quality is consistent. The pen and wax worked fine, I didn’t need to dig out my own tools. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. The food detail comes together really nicely once it’s finished. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Everyone who comes over picks one up to look at it. Overall a good experience.

Picked this up during a sale and it was money well spent. The cork backing keeps them from sliding and protects the table. They get used every single day at our house. The edges could be sealed a little better for daily use. Still a good kit overall.

Second time ordering this style, still happy with it. Plenty of margin around the edges for framing or trimming. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Great way to slow down at the end of a busy day. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

This was a birthday gift to myself and it hit the spot. The thickness makes them feel like real coasters, not craft foam. The cat subject matter is right up my street. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. I worked on this with my mother and we both got absorbed in it. The colors work beautifully with the room. Good enough that I’d buy another.

These were a housewarming gift and I nearly kept them. The adhesive held well across several weeks of working on it. I wish the instructions went into a bit more detail for a first-timer. I gave a set to my son’s teacher and she was thrilled. Small things aside, it’s a good buy.

I picked this up on a whim and ended up really enjoying it. The holder is sturdy enough that I actually keep them in it. The tweezers included were actually good quality. I work on it after dinner and it helps me switch off. Wish the cork backing were a touch thicker. The kitty pattern is what made me choose this one. I keep them out for guests and always get asked about them. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

I do these while dinner is in the oven. Great little time filler. The finish on each coaster is consistent across the set. I’d prefer slightly thicker cork on the base. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

My sister got me into these and this is my latest one. The colors are true to the listing photos. The kitty palette works really well with the design. The wax ran low before I finished the last section. I work on it after dinner and it helps me switch off. Great little housewarming gift. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

These are my favorite style of kit to give away. The backing grips the table instead of sliding around. It was easy to pick up and put down without losing my place. I went with the kitty version and the colors are lovely. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the table. One coaster had a marginally off-center print. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

I’ve done a handful of these now and this one is up there with the best. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. The end result made all the evenings worth it. Perfect little kit – not overwhelming like a full canvas. Everything was bagged and labeled, so setup took five minutes. The backing held up fine and didn’t peel anywhere. I brought it on a week at the lake and finished most of it there. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. The cat pattern is what made me choose this one. One coaster had a marginally off-center print. I’d recommend it with that one note.

These were a nice little project to knock out over a week. The cork keeps them from sticking to the table when there’s condensation. It looks great from a distance and holds up close. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. Would buy again; the notes are minor.
