Why This Duck Set Earns Its Place on the Table

A Duck study built on a duck on water with layered plumage, detailed head and ripples spreading from the body. The palette stays in warm brown and green plumage with iridescent head accents against calm water, and the piece keeps a peaceful and pastoral register throughout. Waterfowl motifs suit country interiors — calm subject, calm craft. It is designed for regular use in a busy house, not occasional display. Designed for country kitchens and nature-toned rooms, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD464. Waterfowl motifs suit country interiors — calm subject, calm craft.

waterfowl motifs suit country interiors — calm subject, calm craft. Placed in country kitchens and nature-toned rooms, it reads as part of the room rather than an addition to it.

Every DOTZSO diamond painting kit is built for people who want the make to feel calm and the result to be something they actually use. Contents: colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, sorting tray, comfort-grip pen, wax caddy and illustrated step-by-step instructions.

The construction is deliberately simple: anti-slip body, cork backing, seated drill surface. That combination is what keeps the set out of a drawer.

The set runs to 6 coasters, each on the same cork-backed base for a consistent feel in the hand.

What’s in the Box

  • 6 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Complete the set over a few quiet evenings, then put it to work — these are made to be handled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Duck coaster set one purchase, or several?

Yes. The Duck coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD464.

How solid is the finish on the Duck coaster set?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Duck design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The sealing step at the end is what locks it in.

How do I keep the Duck surface dust free?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Duck palette, warm brown and green plumage tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Keeping the Duck piece dust-free is the whole routine.

Is there any bare surface on the Duck coaster set?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Duck artwork is drawn so that a duck on water with layered plumage reads clearly at any distance. Coverage on the Duck piece does not vary across the design.

How does the Duck project break down time-wise?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Duck design is peaceful and pastoral, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. It works well as an ongoing project.

Is the Duck coaster set easy to pick up?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Duck layout is peaceful and pastoral, which helps on a first attempt. The kit arrives ready to begin.

  1. Shane B. –

Came quickly and was packaged really well. The cork keeps them from sticking to the table when there’s condensation. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. Overall a good experience.

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. I found it really peaceful to focus on one small area at a time. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. I’ll be buying more from this shop. Still worth it overall.

Got these for the kitchen table and they look so cute. Colors match the listing photo really closely. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. I love how the autumn colors turned out. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  4. Rodney Villanueva (verified owner) –

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m very happy with it. Each coaster is a solid, even thickness with no warping. I found it really peaceful to focus on one small area at a time. Shipping took a few days longer than I expected. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

I do these while dinner is in the oven. Great little time filler. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. I take it to my book club and work on it while we chat. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. The fall detail comes together really nicely once it’s finished. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

I made one the first night just to see how it went, then did the rest over the week. I’ve had three people ask me where I bought it. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. Overall a good experience.

  7. Freddie Foley (verified owner) –

I wanted coasters that didn’t look like everyone else’s and these fit. Everything needed to finish was in the box, nothing extra to buy. I worked on this with my mother and we both got absorbed in it. Gave it to my grandmother as a gift and it was a big hit. One of the 6 coasters had a slightly off-center print. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

These were a nice little project to knock out over a week. The set stacks neatly in the drawer when not in use. I spread it over a week and enjoyed every session. Took a bit longer to arrive than I expected. Good kit — the notes above are minor.

I’ve done a handful of these now and this one is up there with the best. The cork base means no scratches on our wood table. Gave a set to my neighbor as a housewarming gift and she loved them. It only comes in sets, so I couldn’t buy a single extra. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

These are my favorite style of kit to give away. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. Still a solid purchase.

Been eyeing this one for a while and finally pulled the trigger. The set looks cohesive and well made on the shelf. I’d have liked a few more spare drills in the pale colors. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. My friends all want one now. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

I wanted something I could finish in a sitting or two and these were it. Cork on the bottom stops condensation from sticking them down. This is the kind of craft that’s genuinely calming after a hectic day. They look like a proper matched set. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. Small things aside, it’s a good buy.

Such a fun format – one coaster at a time, no big commitment. The cork is dense, not the crumbly kind that sheds. They look like a proper matched set. One coaster had a marginally off-center print. Still worth it overall.

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. Took a bit longer to arrive than I expected. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

These were a nice little project to knock out over a week. The cork base means no scratches on our wood table. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. Everyone who visits picks one up to look at it. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.
