Why This Sunflower Set Earns Its Place on the Table

The subject here is twin sunflower heads turned at slightly different angles, petals radiating in overlapping rows around a densely seeded centre, set in gold and amber petals with deep umber centres against a clear sky blue. Rather than competing for attention, the piece holds a warm and open tone. Sunflower designs carry the light of a room without needing the room to be bright — the amber does the work. It suits a table that gets used every evening and hosts at weekends. Designed for kitchens and sunlit rooms, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD593. sunflower designs carry the light of a room without needing the room to be bright — the amber does the work. That is the part that matters most here.

sunflower designs carry the light of a room without needing the room to be bright — the amber does the work. That makes it straightforward to place in kitchens and sunlit rooms, where the warm tone already fits.

A DOTZSO kit is designed so the making is restful and the finished piece earns its place in the room. Alongside the canvas you get DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial instructions.

What makes this a working set rather than a display piece is underneath – a cork backing that takes the moisture before it reaches the furniture.

Matched drills across all 6 pieces mean the set looks deliberate when stacked or spread out.

What’s in the Box

  • 6 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Finish the set at an easy pace, then leave it on the table rather than boxing it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coaster set complete, or is the base sold separately?

Yes. The Sunflower coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD593.

Is the Sunflower coaster set robust in normal conditions?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Sunflower design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The resin drills bond firmly across the Sunflower pattern.

Is there a wrong way to clean the Sunflower coaster set?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Sunflower palette, gold and amber petals tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Keep the Sunflower piece away from standing water.

How uniform is the drill coverage on the Sunflower design?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Sunflower artwork is drawn so that twin sunflower heads turned at slightly different angles reads clearly at any distance. There is no printed fill showing through on the Sunflower design.

Is the Sunflower coaster set a quick make or a longer project?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Sunflower design is warm and open, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Sunflower layout is easy to put down and pick up again.

How much guidance does the Sunflower design need?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Sunflower layout is warm and open, which helps on a first attempt. No separate tools are required.

Honestly better quality than I expected for the price. If you like holiday designs, this is a good one to go for. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. It’s the kind of project you feel good about finishing. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m very happy with it. They’re a nice size for a standard mug, and even a wider tumbler fits. Wish the cork backing were a touch thicker. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. I’d recommend it with that one note.

I wanted something I could finish in a sitting or two and these were it. It’s a charming Christmas piece and everyone comments on it. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. Great housewarming gift, small and thoughtful. Would order again despite the small issues.

Ordered on a Monday, had it by the weekend. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. No missing colors and no shortage on the ones used most. There were slightly more drills than needed, so it took longer than planned. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. Really happy with the end result. Overall a good experience.

Perfect little kit – not overwhelming like a full canvas. They’ve held up well to daily coffee and tea. The tray was smaller than I’d like for a big session. If you like sunflower designs, this is a good example. Solid overall, just a couple of nitpicks.

  6. Julie Holder (verified owner) –

I wanted coasters that didn’t look like everyone else’s and these fit. Each coaster is a solid thickness and feels durable. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. Happy with it despite the small stuff.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. It turned into something I actually want to display, not shove in a drawer. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. Really happy with the end result. The holiday detail comes together really nicely once it’s finished. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Still worth it overall.

Got a set for the office and they dress up my desk. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. The sunflower palette works really well with the design. It’s a good way to slow down at the end of the day. I’d have preferred more spare drills in the least-used color. They’ve held up well to daily coffee and tea. Would still recommend it.

I saw this on the shop page and couldn’t talk myself out of it. Each color was in its own pouch, clearly numbered. I worked on it a little each evening and it added up quickly. One coaster was slightly thicker than the others. The set looks cohesive and well made on the shelf. I’d order it again knowing what I know now.

I bought two sets so I could gift one and keep one. The tray and tweezers included were better than I expected. I worked on this with my mother and we both got absorbed in it. The cork on one had a small rough patch. The end result made all the evenings worth it. Overall a good experience.

I’ve finished four of these now and this might be my favorite. They’ve become part of the everyday routine here. They’re a bit small for a large tumbler. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

  13. Liam Garrett (verified owner) –

Got these for the kitchen table and they look so cute. The holder fits all 6 pieces neatly, keeps them from getting lost. I keep it by my chair and pick it up whenever I have a few minutes. I gave one to my sister and she immediately ordered her own. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. Overall happy, just a few small things.

  14. Cathy Norton (verified owner) –

I keep a set going on the kitchen counter. They wipe clean easily, which matters with coffee and kids around. One of the 6 coasters had a slightly off-center print. Something about placing the drills is very settling. The finished piece looks far better than I expected. Still a solid purchase.

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. Good weight to the materials, it doesn’t feel cheap. I take it to my book club and work on it while we chat. The packaging was a little crushed on one corner. Still worth it overall.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. The artwork looks even better in person than the photos. We actually use them every day, not just display them. Instructions were minimal, though it’s easy enough to figure out. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

I made one the first night just to see how it went, then did the rest over the week. The set stacks neatly in the holder on the shelf. Nice mindful work that keeps you present. Great little housewarming gift. One coaster had a marginally off-center print. Overall a good experience.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. They wipe clean easily, which matters with kids around. Really happy with the end result. The holder is a bit loose so they rattle when moved. Still worth it overall.

I’ve made several sets of these now as gifts. Great housewarming gift, small and thoughtful. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Worth it despite the small things.

I keep a set going on the kitchen counter. We actually use them every day, not just display them. The yellow bloom element makes it feel personal. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. Still a solid purchase.

These are the perfect size to actually finish. All eight coasters came out the same size, which isn’t always the case. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. Great housewarming gift, small and thoughtful. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

I keep a set going on the kitchen counter. The colors work beautifully with the room. The multi-placer tip took some practice. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

Added this to my cart at the last minute and I’m glad I did. Really happy with the end result. The holder finish doesn’t quite match the coasters. Still a good kit overall.

Was looking for something to do with my hands in the evenings. Everyone who comes over picks one up to look at it. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

Ordered this as a small pick-me-up and it worked. No missing colors and no shortage on the ones used most. I’d prefer slightly thicker cork on the base. I brought it on a week at the lake and finished most of it there. Would order again despite the small issues.
