Why This Cat Set Earns Its Place on the Table

The subject here is a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward, fur rendered in overlapping short strokes across the flank and chest, set in warm greys and soft browns with bright eye highlights against a tonal background. Rather than competing for attention, the piece holds a calm and companionable tone. Cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. It is for makers who prefer a project with an obvious job at the end. Designed for bedrooms and home offices, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. That is what puts it at home in bedrooms and home offices, with the calm tone of the colours carrying the room.

Every DOTZSO diamond painting kit is built for people who want the make to feel calm and the result to be something they actually use. Contents: colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, sorting tray, comfort-grip pen, wax caddy and illustrated step-by-step instructions.

The construction is deliberately simple: anti-slip body, cork backing, seated drill surface. That combination is what keeps the set out of a drawer.

The set runs to 8 coasters, each on the same cork-backed base for a consistent feel in the hand.

What’s in the Box

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Complete the set over a few quiet evenings, then put it to work — these are made to be handled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coaster set pictured the exact configuration that ships?

Yes. The Cat coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD307.

How well does the Cat design survive handling?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Cat design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The sealing step at the end is what locks it in.

Can the Cat coaster set get wet?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Cat palette, warm greys and soft browns tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. The Cat surface is not built for immersion.

Does the Cat design have any unworked areas?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Cat artwork is drawn so that a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward reads clearly at any distance. The Cat piece has a uniform drilled finish.

Does the Cat coaster set work well as an ongoing project?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Cat design is calm and companionable, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. It works well as an ongoing project.

How easy is the Cat coaster set for someone new?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Cat layout is calm and companionable, which helps on a first attempt. There is nothing missing from the box.

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. Cork on the bottom plus the drill top makes them feel solid. Wish the cork backing were a touch thicker. It’s become my evening ritual – an hour of this and I feel settled. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. Still worth it overall.

Got these for the kitchen table and they look so cute. Good weight to the materials, it doesn’t feel cheap. Took a bit longer to arrive than I expected. Really relaxing to do in the evening instead of scrolling. Still a solid purchase.

  3. Edith Lincoln –

Bought these to replace a tired set and the upgrade is obvious. The kit included more than enough drills for the full design. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. It’s satisfying to watch a section fill in. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

Ordered two kits, this was the one I finished first. I chose this one for the cartoon look. Shipping took a few days longer than I expected. I gave a set to a friend and she uses them constantly. Still a solid purchase.

  5. Herbert Howell (verified owner) –

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. The thickness makes them feel like real coasters, not craft foam. I do it at the kitchen table while dinner simmers. The holder finish doesn’t quite match the coasters. They look great on the sideboard and are genuinely useful. Still a solid purchase.

  6. Alvin Pfeiffer –

Perfect little kit – not overwhelming like a full canvas. There was plenty of margin around the edge for a clean finish. It’s the kind of project that feels creative without being stressful. I chose this one for the cartoon look. I’d have preferred more spare drills in the least-used color. Still worth it overall.

  7. Claire Hendricks (verified owner) –

Our old coasters were scratched up, so this was an easy upgrade. The wax and pen that came with it worked fine right out of the box. I like having a project that doesn’t demand much thought. The pen was fine, though I ended up using my own. I’d recommend it with that one note.

Got a set for the office and they dress up my desk. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. I gave a set to my son’s teacher and she was thrilled. The sorting tray is shallow, drills spill out if you’re not careful. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

  9. Michell Jensen (verified owner) –

These are great for a first-timer, not intimidating at all. The surface wipes clean with a damp cloth, no fuss. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. It only comes in sets, so I couldn’t buy a single extra. I’d order it again knowing what I know now.

  10. Will Marsh –

Bought these to have on hand for last-minute hostess gifts. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. It only comes in sets, so I couldn’t buy a single extra. Made a set for my book club and everyone wanted the link. Still a solid purchase.

  11. Denise P. (verified owner) –

Exactly what the listing described, no surprises. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. One of the 8 coasters had a slightly off-center print. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the coffee table. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  12. John Ware –

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. Colors match the listing photo really closely. The work never felt like a chore. The packaging was a little plain for a gift. They’ve replaced the store-bought ones entirely. Worth it despite the small things.

  13. Eliot Torres (verified owner) –

Picked this up before a long flight and it saved the trip. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. The artwork looks even better in person than the photos. The set is eight, which is more than I strictly needed. A useful gift that people actually keep out. Overall happy, just a few small things.

  14. Wade Byrne –

I like having a small kit that doesn’t take a month. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. The adhesive picked up lint over the days I worked on it. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  15. PacificCraftPam (verified owner) –

Bought these for our patio table and they look charming. The finish on each coaster matched the others exactly. The tweezers included were actually good quality. I put on an audiobook and worked through it in a few sittings. It reads as a deliberate design choice, not a craft. The wax was a little stiff at first. Still worth it overall.

  16. Lenora Mitchell (verified owner) –

A friend recommended this shop and I see why. Made a set for my book club and everyone wanted the link. The edges could be sealed a little better for daily use. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

This arrived on a rainy Tuesday and turned the week around. The playful subject matter is right up my street. They’re sized well for a standard mug and a wider tumbler too. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. They live on the side table and look good there. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. Would still recommend it.

Ordered on a Monday, had it by the weekend. Good weight to the materials, it doesn’t feel cheap. Perfect for a cozy evening in when you want to keep your hands busy. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. I’d recommend it with that one note.

This was my first diamond painting kit and I’m officially hooked. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. The sorting tray is shallow, drills spill out if you’re not careful. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

These are great for a first-timer, not intimidating at all. The thickness makes them feel like real coasters, not craft foam. Really calming, repetitive work, and satisfying when a section is finished. One bag of drills had come open in transit. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  21. Javier D. (verified owner) –

I keep coming back to this shop because the quality is consistent. We actually use them every day, not just display them. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  22. Chester Richardson (verified owner) –

I keep a set going on the kitchen counter. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  23. Judy Briggs –

These are the first coasters I’ve made and I’m sold on the format. The overall look is clean and cohesive. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. Still worth it overall.
