Cat 8-piece coaster set by DOTZSO — a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward in warm greys and soft browns. The fur direction changes at the shoulder and haunch, and following that line is what makes the finish read as animal rather than pattern. It is aimed at anyone who would rather use a handmade object than preserve one. The kit arrives complete, with printed canvas, anti-slip cork-backed coasters, holder and DOTZSO resin drills, tray, pen, wax and instructions.

Why This Cat Set Earns Its Place on the Table

A Cat study built on a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward, fur rendered in overlapping short strokes across the flank and chest. The palette stays in warm greys and soft browns with bright eye highlights against a tonal background, and the piece keeps a calm and companionable register throughout. Cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. It fits anyone who wants a handmade set without the upkeep ceramics demand. Designed for bedrooms and home offices, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD570. cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. That is the part that matters most here.

cat portraits sell because the owner already has a relationship with the subject — the canvas just holds it. That makes it straightforward to place in bedrooms and home offices, where the calm tone already fits.

A DOTZSO kit is designed so the making is restful and the finished piece earns its place in the room. Alongside the canvas you get DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial instructions.

What makes this a working set rather than a display piece is underneath – a cork backing that takes the moisture before it reaches the furniture.

Matched drills across all 8 pieces mean the set looks deliberate when stacked or spread out.

What’s in the Box

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Finish the set at an easy pace, then leave it on the table rather than boxing it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this coaster set contain the full Cat project?

Yes. The Cat coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD570.

Are the drills on the Cat design likely to come loose?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Cat design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Coverage on the Cat face does not degrade with use.

Is there anything I should not use on the Cat coaster set?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Cat palette, warm greys and soft browns tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. The Cat surface asks for very little upkeep.

How dense is the drilling on the Cat design?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Cat artwork is drawn so that a cat settled in profile with tail wrapped forward reads clearly at any distance. The Cat drilling runs the full extent of the face.

What time should I set aside for the Cat coaster set?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Cat design is calm and companionable, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Work it a colour at a time and the Cat piece moves quickly.

What skill level does the Cat coaster set require?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Cat layout is calm and companionable, which helps on a first attempt. The pack has everything for the project.

  1. Larry H. –

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. Really relaxing to do in the evening instead of scrolling. Really happy with the end result. Still a solid purchase.

Honestly better quality than I expected for the price. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. I do this on the porch in the summer and it’s lovely. Overall a good experience.

I do these while dinner is in the oven. Great little time filler. They wipe clean easily, which matters with coffee and kids around. I brought it on a week at the lake and finished most of it there. They’re a hit whenever we have people over. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

I ordered these for the living room and they look intentional. It looks great from a distance and holds up close. It would help to include a larger paper chart. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  5. Traci White (verified owner) –

Arrived well packed and ready to start. The adhesive held well across several weeks of working on it. I find it relaxing to just follow the chart and let my mind wander. A few drills had rough edges that needed picking off. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

Got a set for the office and they dress up my desk. Each one took me a long weekend to finish, quicker than I expected. I spread it over a week and enjoyed every session. The cork on one had a small rough patch. Minor gripes aside, I’d buy it again.

  7. Teddy Floyd (verified owner) –

These are the first coasters I’ve made and I’m sold on the format. The edges are smooth, so nothing catches on a cloth when I wipe them. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. Would make a really nice gift, and it arrives boxed nicely. Still glad I ordered it overall.

These are my favorite style of kit to give away. Each coaster is a solid, even thickness with no warping. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. I’d prefer slightly thicker cork on the base. Solid overall, just a couple of nitpicks.

  9. Frances Greene (verified owner) –

These little coasters are the perfect size for a quick project. Plenty of margin around the edges for framing or trimming. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the coffee table. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

I do these while dinner is in the oven. Great little time filler. Cork on the bottom stops condensation from sticking them down. I brought it on a week at the lake and finished most of it there. Everyone who visits picks one up to look at it. The artwork looks even better in person than the photos. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  11. Vivian Dolan (verified owner) –

Picked this up before a long flight and it saved the trip. The thickness makes them feel like real coasters, not craft foam. The holder finish doesn’t quite match the coasters. Very pleased with how it came together. Would order again despite the small issues.

  12. Sam Waller –

Picked this up during a sale and it was money well spent. I went with the cat version and the colors are lovely. The cork backing keeps them from sliding and protects the table. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. The edges could be sealed a little better for daily use. Made a set for my book club and everyone wanted the link. I’d recommend it with that one note.

I’ve made several sets of these now as gifts. Nice thickness – not the flimsy cardboard kind. One coaster had a marginally off-center print. They bring a bit of charm to the coffee table. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

I keep coming back to this shop because the quality is consistent. It turned into something I actually want to display, not shove in a drawer. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  15. PeachStatePearls (verified owner) –

Bought these to have on hand for last-minute hostess gifts. The cork is dense, not the crumbly kind that sheds. One coaster was slightly thicker than the others. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. Still a solid purchase.

Was looking for a small diamond art project and these nailed it. Nothing arrived damaged, and everything was sealed properly. The packaging was a little crushed on one corner. They look great on the sideboard and are genuinely useful. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  17. Ernest Wilkerson –

Such a fun format – one coaster at a time, no big commitment. They’re a nice size for a standard mug, and even a wider tumbler fits. I’d prefer slightly thicker cork on the base. We actually use them every day, not just display them. Overall happy, just a few small things.

I’ve made several sets of these now as gifts. They’re a nice size for a standard mug, and even a wider tumbler fits. It’s become my evening ritual – an hour of this and I feel settled. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

  19. Bob Powers –

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. The set stacks neatly in the holder on the shelf. I find it relaxing to just follow the chart and let my mind wander. Everyone who visits picks one up to look at it. The cat motif makes it feel special. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. Still worth it overall.

I’ve made several sets of these now as gifts. Each color was in its own pouch, clearly numbered. Guests always comment on them. It only comes in sets, so I couldn’t buy a single extra. Small things aside, it’s a good buy.
