Why This Dwarf Set Earns Its Place on the Table

A Dwarf study built on a garden gnome with a tall pointed hat and full beard, holding a small lantern, set among mushrooms and grass. The palette stays in deep red hat and blue tunic with cream beard against mossy green, and the piece keeps a whimsical and storybook register throughout. Gnome figures bring storybook charm to a porch or garden room without needing a garden. It is for makers who prefer a project with an obvious job at the end. Designed for gardens, porches and whimsical interiors, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD112. The lantern is worked in warm drills against the cool tunic, which is what makes the figure feel lit from within Put simply, gnome figures bring storybook charm to a porch or garden room without needing a garden.

gnome figures bring storybook charm to a porch or garden room without needing a garden. That makes it straightforward to place in gardens, porches and whimsical interiors, where the whimsical tone already fits.

Every DOTZSO diamond painting kit is built for people who want the make to feel calm and the result to be something they actually use. Contents: colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, sorting tray, comfort-grip pen, wax caddy and illustrated step-by-step instructions.

The construction is deliberately simple: anti-slip body, cork backing, seated drill surface. That combination is what keeps the set out of a drawer.

The set runs to 8 coasters, each on the same cork-backed base for a consistent feel in the hand.

What’s in the Box

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Complete the set over a few quiet evenings, then put it to work — these are made to be handled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coaster set I receive the same as the listing shows?

Yes. The Dwarf coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD112.

Is the Dwarf work fixed securely once complete?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Dwarf design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The Dwarf surface tolerates being picked up and moved.

How do I keep the Dwarf coaster set looking its best?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Dwarf palette, deep red hat and blue tunic tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Dust with a dry cloth rather than a wet one where possible.

Is the drilling on the Dwarf coaster set consistent?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Dwarf artwork is drawn so that a garden gnome with a tall pointed hat and full beard reads clearly at any distance. The Dwarf artwork relies on the drills rather than printed fill.

Does the Dwarf project take longer than expected?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Dwarf design is whimsical and storybook, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Dwarf pattern is easy to work in short bursts.

Would I cope with the Dwarf design as a novice?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Dwarf layout is whimsical and storybook, which helps on a first attempt. The package covers the whole project.

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. Cork on the bottom plus the drill top makes them feel solid. I gave a set to my son’s teacher and she was thrilled. I love how the Christmas colors turned out. Happy customer here.

Perfect little kit – not overwhelming like a full canvas. No missing colors and no shortage on the ones used most. Quiet Sunday mornings with this and a coffee is my favorite part of the week. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. Great value for what you get. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. I gave a set to my son’s teacher and she was thrilled. If you like festive designs, this is a good one to go for. Great kit, no complaints.

Really nice kit, especially for the money. Drill colors are well separated, no squinting to tell two shades apart. I do it at the kitchen table while dinner simmers. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

So glad I added this one to my cart. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. I like having something mindful to do that doesn’t need a screen. My friends all want one now. Happy customer here.

Perfect little kit – not overwhelming like a full canvas. Each coaster is a good thickness and feels sturdy in the hand. Took a bit longer to arrive than I expected. I take it to my book club and work on it while we chat. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Honestly better quality than I expected for the price. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

I’ve done a handful of these now and this one is up there with the best. They wipe clean easily, which matters with coffee and kids around. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. I’m really proud of how it turned out. Really pleased with this one.

I wanted coasters that didn’t look like everyone else’s and these fit. All eight coasters came out the same size, which isn’t always the case. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. The finished piece has real presence. Still glad I ordered it overall.

I picked this up on a whim and ended up really enjoying it. Each one took me about three hours to finish, quicker than I expected. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. We actually use them every day, not just display them. Very happy with this purchase.

This showed up right when I needed a quiet evening activity. The canvas arrived flat rather than rolled tight. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. Gave a set to my neighbor as a housewarming gift and she loved them. Two thumbs up.

This was a birthday gift to myself and it hit the spot. The tweezers included were actually good quality. No missing colors and nothing short in the high-use shades. It’s the kind of task that quiets a busy mind. It’s earned a spot on the wall. Recommended without hesitation.

I grabbed these to have something small to work on in the evenings. We actually use them every day, not just display them. Instructions were minimal, though it’s easy enough to figure out. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

Second time ordering this style, still happy with it. The holder fits all 8 pieces neatly, keeps them from getting lost. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

I ordered these for the living room and they look intentional. I’m a sucker for anything whimsical-themed. The drills sit nice and flush, no gaps showing the surface underneath. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. Solid kit, would order again.

I bought two sets so I could gift one and keep one. The edges came finished cleanly with no rough spots. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. So glad I went with this one.

Small enough to take along on a trip. The set stacks neatly in the holder on the shelf. This one might be my favorite finish yet. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

  22. Lana Carson (verified owner) –

Perfect little kit – not overwhelming like a full canvas. The thickness makes them feel like real coasters, not craft foam. Everything felt well made, from the tools to the drills. It’s the kind of task that quiets a busy mind. The set is eight, which is more than I strictly needed. It fits perfectly with the decor in on the back porch. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

Bought these to replace a tired set and the upgrade is obvious. Great housewarming gift, small and thoughtful. One coaster was slightly thicker than the others. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

This was my first order here and it won’t be my last. The tweezers included were actually good quality. Genuinely peaceful to work on one row at a time. If you like whimsical designs, this is a good example. Great little housewarming gift. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

Bought these to have on hand for last-minute hostess gifts. Everything needed to finish was in the box, nothing extra to buy. One of the 8 coasters had a slightly off-center print. I did most of it over a lazy weekend and enjoyed every minute. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.
