Why This Egg Set Earns Its Place on the Table

The subject here is decorated eggs arranged in a group, each banded with different ornamental patterns from geometric to floral, set in soft pastels with metallic-style accents across a light ground. Rather than competing for attention, the piece holds a spring-like and ornamental tone. Ornamental egg designs suit spring and Easter but the pattern language works on a shelf year-round. It fits anyone who wants a handmade set without the upkeep ceramics demand. Designed for spring styling and Easter decorating, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD456. Each egg uses a different banding pattern, so the group reads as a curated collection rather than repetition Put simply, ornamental egg designs suit spring and Easter but the pattern language works on a shelf year-round.

ornamental egg designs suit spring and Easter but the pattern language works on a shelf year-round. That is what puts it at home in spring styling and Easter decorating, with the spring-like tone of the colours carrying the room.

A DOTZSO kit is designed so the making is restful and the finished piece earns its place in the room. Alongside the canvas you get DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial instructions.

What makes this a working set rather than a display piece is underneath – a cork backing that takes the moisture before it reaches the furniture.

Matched drills across all 8 pieces mean the set looks deliberate when stacked or spread out.

What’s in the Box

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Finish the set at an easy pace, then leave it on the table rather than boxing it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this Egg coaster set include the tools as well as the project?

Yes. The Egg coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD456.

How stable is the drill coverage on the Egg design?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Egg design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Coverage on the Egg face does not degrade with use.

What should I use on the Egg finish?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Egg palette, soft pastels tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Routine care is minimal once the Egg piece is sealed.

How uniform is the drill coverage on the Egg design?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Egg artwork is drawn so that decorated eggs arranged in a group reads clearly at any distance. The Egg artwork relies on the drills rather than printed fill.

Does the Egg project run over several days?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Egg design is spring-like and ornamental, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Progress is steady rather than dramatic on the Egg piece.

Does the Egg design need any training?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Egg layout is spring-like and ornamental, which helps on a first attempt. The box contains the full project.

I wanted something I could finish in a sitting or two and these were it. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. I found it really peaceful to focus on one small area at a time. This shop has a repeat customer in me.

I grabbed these to have something small to work on in the evenings. Colors match the listing photo really closely. I work on it while listening to an audiobook and the time just disappears. Five stars from me.

  5. Alejandro H. (verified owner) –

Really nice kit, especially for the money. The drills are bright and consistent in size, no weird off-color batches. It’s the kind of project that feels creative without being stressful. They look great on the sideboard and are genuinely useful. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. I’d recommend it with that one note.

  6. Abigail N. (verified owner) –

I’ve done a handful of these now and this one is up there with the best. Nice thickness – not the flimsy cardboard kind. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. Everyone who comes over picks one up to look at it. Five stars from me.

  7. Thomas S. (verified owner) –

I made one the first night just to see how it went, then did the rest over the week. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. Gave a set to my neighbor as a housewarming gift and she loved them. Happy customer here.

  8. Wesley Beebe (verified owner) –

Was looking for a small diamond art project and these nailed it. The thickness makes them feel like real coasters, not craft foam. They’ve held up well to daily coffee and tea. I’d order this again.

  9. Ruben Dailey (verified owner) –

This is my third order from DOTZSO and it did not disappoint. The pen grip stayed comfortable through long sessions. I did most of it over a lazy weekend and enjoyed every minute. Would order again in a heartbeat.

  10. Vickie Flores (verified owner) –

I don’t usually leave reviews but this one deserved it. The cork is dense, not the crumbly kind that sheds. The sorting tray is shallow, drills spill out if you’re not careful. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. They look like a proper matched set. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

  11. Jacqueline Foster (verified owner) –

I picked these up to add something handmade to the coffee table. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. I do a section a night with a podcast on. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. The finished work looks considered, not like a craft project. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

  12. Wyatt G. (verified owner) –

I wanted something I could finish in a sitting or two and these were it. Nice thickness – not the flimsy cardboard kind. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. The colors work beautifully with the room. Loved it, no regrets.

These are the first coasters I’ve made and I’m sold on the format. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. It was a pleasant way to spend a slow afternoon. I gave a set to my son’s teacher and she was thrilled. Very happy customer.

Bought these to have on hand for last-minute hostess gifts. The base is thick enough that they don’t feel flimsy. I worked on this during my lunch breaks and it made the days feel better. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

Such a fun format – one coaster at a time, no big commitment. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. I’ll be buying more from this shop. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m very happy with it. Colors match the listing photo really closely. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. I do it at the kitchen table while dinner simmers. Already ordered another one from DOTZSO. The dinosaur pattern is what drew me in and it didn’t disappoint. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

Ordered two kits, this was the one I finished first. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. Drill colors are well separated, no squinting to tell two shades apart. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. Loved it, no regrets.
