Why This Fruit Set Earns Its Place on the Table

Here the Fruit motif is built around assorted fruit arranged in a loose still-life, with cut surfaces revealing seeds and inner texture alongside whole forms, carried by warm reds, oranges and greens with cool shadow tones underneath the arrangement. The result reads as abundant and cheerful — considered rather than busy. Fruit still-lifes are the classic kitchen subject for a reason — they suit the room they hang in. It fits anyone who wants a handmade set without the upkeep ceramics demand. Designed for kitchens and dining rooms, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD301. The cut fruit surfaces use finer drill detail than the skins, which is what makes the still-life feel observed That is the detail that separates this from a generic Fruit print.

fruit still-lifes are the classic kitchen subject for a reason — they suit the room they hang in. Hung in kitchens and dining rooms, the abundant palette does the work and the artwork stays understated.

A DOTZSO kit is designed so the making is restful and the finished piece earns its place in the room. Alongside the canvas you get DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial instructions.

What makes this a working set rather than a display piece is underneath – a cork backing that takes the moisture before it reaches the furniture.

Matched drills across all 8 pieces mean the set looks deliberate when stacked or spread out.

What’s in the Box

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Finish the set at an easy pace, then leave it on the table rather than boxing it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the box for this Fruit coaster set cover the whole project?

Yes. The Fruit coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD301.

Does the Fruit finish remain even with use?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Fruit design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Daily contact is well within what the Fruit surface is built for.

What care does the Fruit design require?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Fruit palette, warm reds, oranges and greens tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. There is no need for anything stronger than a damp cloth.

Will the Fruit coaster set look complete when finished?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Fruit artwork is drawn so that assorted fruit arranged in a loose still-life reads clearly at any distance. The Fruit design is worked without breaks in coverage.

How long should I plan for the Fruit coaster set?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Fruit design is abundant and cheerful, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Progress is steady rather than dramatic on the Fruit piece.

Is the Fruit project appropriate for absolute beginners?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Fruit layout is abundant and cheerful, which helps on a first attempt. All the essentials come in the box.

I wanted something I could finish in a sitting or two and these were it. The drills sit nice and flush, no gaps showing the surface underneath. I’ve had three people ask me where I bought it. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

My third kit from this shop and still really pleased. The holder is sturdy enough that I actually keep them in it. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. The citrus design is even prettier in person than in the photos. Everyone who comes over picks one up to look at it. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. Would order again despite the small issues.

  3. SlowSundayMakes (verified owner) –

So glad I added this one to my cart. Each coaster is a good thickness and feels sturdy in the hand. One of the 8 coasters had a slightly off-center print. Really calming, repetitive work, and satisfying when a section is finished. The finished piece gets compliments from everyone who visits. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Ordered two kits, this was the one I finished first. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

I wanted something I could finish in a sitting or two and these were it. Cork on the bottom plus the drill top makes them feel solid. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. Great housewarming gift, small and thoughtful. Great kit, no complaints.

Such a fun format – one coaster at a time, no big commitment. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. I did this with my wife on the weekends and we both got into it. I’ll be ordering more.

Bought it as a starter kit for myself and it worked out great. The cork backing is a nice touch, they don’t slide around on the table. Gave a set to my neighbor as a housewarming gift and she loved them. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. Overall a good experience.

I wanted something I could finish in a sitting or two and these were it. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. Quiet Sunday mornings with this and a coffee is my favorite part of the week. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

I do these while dinner is in the oven. Great little time filler. The fruit subject is rendered with more detail than I expected. The pen and wax worked fine, I didn’t need to dig out my own tools. We actually use them every day, not just display them. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Bought a set to use at our lake house and ended up making all eight. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

Bought these to replace a tired set and the upgrade is obvious. Nice thickness – not the flimsy cardboard kind. It would help to include a larger paper chart. It’s the sort of project that makes an evening feel well spent. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

  32. Lonnie Phillips (verified owner) –

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. All eight coasters came out the same size, which isn’t always the case. I do this instead of scrolling and feel much better for it. The set is eight, which is more than I strictly needed. The colors stay true once it’s finished. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  33. Forrest Robbins –

I’ve bought from this shop a few times now and this is another good one. Colors are distinct enough that I never mixed two shades up. The adhesive held firmly without any lifting at the edges. It was easy to pick up and put down without losing my place. They bring a bit of charm to the coffee table. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. The pen was fine, though I ended up using my own. Happy with it, with a few caveats.
