Why This Landscape Set Earns Its Place on the Table

This canvas takes a layered vista of ridgelines receding into low mist, with a still lake catching the sky and pine slopes anchoring both banks as its subject, rendered in cool pine green and slate blue with a band of warm light at the horizon. The mood settles at expansive and quiet, which is what keeps it easy to live with. Landscape work is the most forgiving motif to live with — it never dates and it never demands the room match it. It fits anyone who wants a handmade set without the upkeep ceramics demand. Designed for living rooms and reading corners, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD313. Depth is built through graded blues rather than outlines, so the scene pulls the eye inward the longer it hangs Put simply, landscape work is the most forgiving motif to live with — it never dates and it never demands the room match it.

landscape work is the most forgiving motif to live with — it never dates and it never demands the room match it. Hung in living rooms and reading corners, the expansive palette does the work and the artwork stays understated.

A DOTZSO kit is designed so the making is restful and the finished piece earns its place in the room. Alongside the canvas you get DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial instructions.

What makes this a working set rather than a display piece is underneath – a cork backing that takes the moisture before it reaches the furniture.

Matched drills across all 8 pieces mean the set looks deliberate when stacked or spread out.

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Finish the set at an easy pace, then leave it on the table rather than boxing it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this coaster set contain the full Landscape project?

Yes. The Landscape coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD313.

Will the Landscape surface keep its finish with regular contact?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Landscape design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Normal wear leaves the Landscape surface unaffected.

How do I maintain the Landscape coaster set long term?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Landscape palette, cool pine green and slate blue tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. The Landscape surface asks for very little upkeep.

Is the Landscape surface fully worked, or is it a partial-drill piece?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Landscape artwork is drawn so that a layered vista of ridgelines receding into low mist reads clearly at any distance. That applies across the whole Landscape face.

How long does the Landscape design typically take?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Landscape design is expansive and quiet, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Landscape pattern rewards steady work rather than rushing.

How beginner-safe is the Landscape coaster set?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Landscape layout is expansive and quiet, which helps on a first attempt. Everything ships together in one box.

I made one the first night just to see how it went, then did the rest over the week. Cork on the bottom plus the drill top makes them feel solid. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. The landscape palette is softer in person, which I actually prefer. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. I do this on the porch in the summer and it’s lovely. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. We actually use them every day, not just display them. I’d recommend it with that one note.

I do these while dinner is in the oven. Great little time filler. I gave a set to my son’s teacher and she was thrilled. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Still worth it overall.

  4. Ethel Lang –

Got these for the kitchen table and they look so cute. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. They look lovely stacked in the holder on the table. The set is eight, which is more than I strictly needed. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

Got a set for the office and they dress up my desk. The finished piece has real presence. The cork on one had a small rough patch. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

  6. Leah Lord (verified owner) –

A set of coasters felt like the perfect bite-sized project. The drills clicked into place without needing much pressure. One coaster was slightly thicker than the others. The finished look is polished and put together. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

  7. Garrett Dailey (verified owner) –

Bought this as a reward for getting through a busy stretch at work. The cork is dense, not the crumbly kind that sheds. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. It’s become my evening ritual – an hour of this and I feel settled. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

These are my favorite style of kit to give away. The set stacks neatly in the drawer when not in use. It was easy to pick up and put down without losing my place. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Still glad I ordered it overall.

My third kit from this shop and still really pleased. The holder is sturdy enough that I actually keep them in it. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. One coaster was slightly thicker than the others. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  10. Alfred Carrier –

These are great for a first-timer, not intimidating at all. Each coaster is a solid, even thickness with no warping. I do this while listening to music and the time disappears. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Would still recommend it.

  11. Jan Avery –

Really nice kit, especially for the money. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. I did a section a night and looked forward to it each time. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

I wanted something I could pick up for twenty minutes at a time. The chart was large enough to read without squinting. It’s the kind of hobby that makes an evening feel well spent. The packaging arrived a little dented. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

These are the first coasters I’ve made and I’m sold on the format. The backing grips the table instead of sliding around. The set is eight, which is more than I strictly needed. I do it at the kitchen table while dinner simmers. Overall a good experience.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Overall a good experience.

Honestly better quality than I expected for the price. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. I’d recommend it with that one note.

I keep a set going on the kitchen counter. The set looks cohesive and well made on the shelf. One of the 8 coasters had a slightly off-center print. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  17. Geoffrey Pearson (verified owner) –

I keep a set going on the kitchen counter. The adhesive is plenty sticky, the drills stay exactly where I put them. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. Only small gripe is that a few drills had little burrs on them. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. Worth it despite the small things.

Found this while browsing and couldn’t leave without it. Cork on the bottom plus the drill top makes them feel solid. It only comes in sets, so I couldn’t buy a single extra. They’ve become the thing people notice first in the living room. Overall a good experience.

Picked this up during a sale and it was money well spent. The tray and tweezers included were better than I expected. The holder is a bit loose so they rattle when moved. Really soothing to focus on one small area at a time. We actually use them every day, not just display them. Still worth it overall.

I’ve made several sets of these now as gifts. The colors are true to the listing photos. One coaster had a marginally off-center print. They get used every single day at our house. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

These are the perfect size to actually finish. The legend was easy to follow and matched the canvas printing. The tray and tweezers included were better than I expected. I’d prefer slightly thicker cork on the base. I did most of it over a lazy weekend and enjoyed every minute. Great value for what you get. Still a solid purchase.

Exactly what the listing described, no surprises. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. There were slightly more drills than needed, so it took longer than planned. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

Wish the cork backing were a touch thicker. Keeps my hands busy while I watch something. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. The landscape palette works really well with the design. Overall a good experience.
