Why This Ocean Set Earns Its Place on the Table

A Ocean study built on breaking waves rolling toward a shallow shore, foam worked in white and pale aqua against deepening turquoise water. The palette stays in turquoise shifting to deep teal, with white and pale sand at the break line, and the piece keeps a cool and restorative register throughout. Ocean motifs cool a room visually — they are the most reliable choice for a bathroom wall. It is aimed at homes where the small objects on the table have been chosen on purpose. Designed for bathrooms and coastal interiors, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference BD681. The foam uses a mix of pale drills at close spacing, which is what makes the wave look like it is still moving.

ocean motifs cool a room visually — they are the most reliable choice for a bathroom wall. Placed in bathrooms and coastal interiors, it reads as part of the room rather than an addition to it.

DOTZSO builds these kits for slow evenings, with a finish good enough to leave out on the table. Box contents run to a colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, a tray, a comfort-grip pen, a wax caddy and a pictorial reference sheet.

Nothing here is decorative-only. The base grips, the cork absorbs, and the drill surface is pressed flat so it survives ordinary use.

The 8-piece format covers seating for a full table without buying twice.

What’s in the Box

  • 8 × anti-slip coaster with cork-backed base
  • 1 × display holder / stand
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one coaster at a time rather than moving across the whole set.
  5. Complete all coasters, then press each finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Finally, leave the set on the table for a few hours before first use so the drills settle fully.

Work through it gradually, then let the finished coasters take their place in daily use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this coaster set self-contained, or does it need extra supplies?

Yes. The Ocean coaster set ships complete with the stand shown in the product images, so the coasters have somewhere to live when they are not in use, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference BD681.

Is the drilling on the Ocean design secure once sealed?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Ocean design holds under normal use. The cork-backed base is what stops condensation reaching the table, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. There is no delicate stage once the Ocean work is sealed.

How should I clean the Ocean coaster set?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge them or put them through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Ocean palette, turquoise shifting to deep teal, tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. A microfibre cloth works well on the Ocean surface.

Does the Ocean artwork use drills throughout?

The drilled finish and palette are matched across the whole set, but each coaster carries its own printed motif. The Ocean artwork is drawn so that breaking waves rolling toward a shallow shore reads clearly at any distance. That applies across the whole Ocean face.

How long will the Ocean coaster set occupy me?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes each for most people, so a full set is a few evenings rather than one sitting. The Ocean design is cool and restorative, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. It is a project rather than a single evening’s task.

Would the Ocean project suit a first-timer?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the cork-backed base and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Ocean layout is cool and restorative, which helps on a first attempt. Every element needed is supplied.

Perfect little kit – not overwhelming like a full canvas. The autumn subject is rendered with more detail than I expected. One of the 8 coasters had a slightly off-center print. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. Very pleased with how it came together. Still a solid purchase.

Ordered on a Monday, had it by the weekend. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. The holder is a little loose, the coasters rattle when you move it. The colors work beautifully with the room. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Exactly what the listing described, no surprises. My friends all want one now. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Got these for the kitchen table and they look so cute. Nice thickness – not the flimsy cardboard kind. Perfect for a cozy evening in when you want to keep your hands busy. We actually use them every day, not just display them. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. Still a solid purchase.

Bought it as a starter kit for myself and it worked out great. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. The edges could be sealed a bit better for daily use. Gave it to my niece as a gift and it was a big hit. Overall a good experience.

I wanted coasters that didn’t look like everyone else’s and these fit. Cork base means no scratches on our wood table, which I was worried about. One of the 8 coasters had a slightly off-center print. I set aside twenty minutes a night for this and it’s become a ritual. A useful gift that people actually keep out. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

A set of coasters felt like the perfect bite-sized project. The finish on each coaster matched the others exactly. Nice mindful work that keeps you present. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. Happy with it despite the small stuff.

I’ve had my eye on this design since last season. Each coaster is a solid thickness and feels durable. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. The tray was smaller than I’d like for a big session. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. The holder fits all 8 pieces neatly, keeps them from getting lost. I gave a set to my son’s teacher and she was thrilled. The autumn pattern is what drew me in and it didn’t disappoint. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Was looking for a small diamond art project and these nailed it. The cork keeps them from sticking to the table when there’s condensation. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. It’s the kind of hobby that makes an evening feel well spent. Minor gripes aside, I’d buy it again.

Came quickly and was packaged really well. The edges are finished cleanly, no rough spots. I found it a nice counterweight to a screen-heavy day. The edges could be sealed a little better for daily use. The tropical artwork is the reason I clicked. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

I’ve made several sets of these now as gifts. The cork backing keeps them from sliding and protects the table. The tropical pattern is what made me choose this one. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. I finished it faster than I expected because I kept coming back to it. Would buy again; the notes are minor.

Been eyeing this one for a while and finally pulled the trigger. Nothing was damaged in shipping and the packaging was neat. Using them on the patio table and they’ve held up fine. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. Still a solid purchase.

I’ve made several sets of these now as gifts. They sit by the coffee maker and get used constantly. This is a lovely tropical piece for the price. I’d prefer slightly thicker cork on the base. Would still recommend it.

These are my go-to when I want a small craft that still feels rewarding. The release paper peeled back cleanly without tearing. Shipping took a bit longer than the estimate. I found it genuinely enjoyable rather than just something to finish. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

  17. Kenny Roy –

These are the perfect size to actually finish. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. Great housewarming gift, small and thoughtful. The included pen wore out partway through. Would still recommend it.

Added this to my cart at the last minute and I’m glad I did. The tropical pattern is what made me choose this one. The backing held up fine and didn’t peel anywhere. It’s a good way to slow down at the end of the day. Everyone who visits picks one up to look at it. The printed chart could have been a touch larger. Overall a good experience.

Picked this up because I wanted a hobby that didn’t involve a screen. The tray held more than enough drills at a time. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. It’s the kind of hobby that makes an evening feel well spent. They’re a bit smaller than I pictured for a large tumbler. They’ve replaced the store-bought ones entirely. Worth it despite the small things.

Bought a set as a hostess gift and kept a set for myself. The holder is sturdy enough that I actually keep them in it. Everything felt well made, from the tools to the drills. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. They look great on the sideboard and are genuinely useful. One coaster had a marginally off-center print. Overall happy, just a few small things.

Was looking for a small diamond art project and these nailed it. The holder fits all 8 pieces neatly, keeps them from getting lost. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. I bring them out for guests and always get asked about them. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

Bought these for our patio table and they look charming. Nice thickness – not the flimsy cardboard kind. I work on it after dinner and it helps me switch off. The holder doesn’t match the coasters exactly in finish. Everyone who comes over picks one up to look at it. This is a lovely palm tree piece for the price. Overall a good experience.

Got a set for the office and they dress up my desk. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. The holder is a bit loose so they rattle when moved. Such a fun format – one coaster at a time, no big commitment. Cork on the bottom plus the drill top makes them feel solid. The multi-placer tip took some practice. Genuinely peaceful to work on one row at a time. Still a solid purchase.
