The subject here is a bird perched on the roof ridge of a small house, with a nesting box on the wall and foliage crowding the base, set in warm terracotta roof and cream walls with brown plumage against a green ground. Rather than competing for attention, the piece holds a homely and gentle tone. The pairing of bird and house carries a settled, domestic feel that suits cottage-style rooms. It fits a household that keeps its decorations from year to year. Designed for entryways and cottage-style interiors, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed pendant blank flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time around the blank.
  5. Continue until the face is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book to seat every drill.
  6. Attach the ribbon loop once the surface is sealed, then hang the piece.

Take the making at an easy pace, then display the finished pendant rather than box it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Bird and House hanging pendant kit arrive ready to begin?

Yes. The Bird and House hanging pendant kit ships complete with the ribbon loop ready to attach, so the piece can hang as soon as the surface is sealed, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference GT2068.

Does the Bird and House finish remain even with use?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Bird and House design holds under normal use. It is built for indoor use; a covered porch is fine, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Handling the Bird and House piece normally will not disturb the drills.

What is the right way to care for the Bird and House hanging pendant kit?

Dust with a dry, soft brush; keep it out of prolonged direct sun and rain — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Bird and House palette, warm terracotta roof and cream walls tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. The Bird and House palette holds up better kept out of strong sun.

Is the Bird and House hanging pendant kit fully covered or deliberately sparse?

The face is drilled across the whole blank, so the finished piece has complete coverage without bare board showing. The Bird and House artwork is drawn so that a bird perched on the roof ridge of a small house reads clearly at any distance. The Bird and House surface is evenly worked throughout.

What sort of time commitment is the Bird and House project?

Roughly one to two evenings for most people, depending on the size of the blank. The Bird and House design is homely and gentle, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Work it a colour at a time and the Bird and House piece moves quickly.

Is the Bird and House project well suited to a first attempt?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the pendant blank and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Bird and House layout is homely and gentle, which helps on a first attempt. All the essentials come in the box.

Perfect size for a small window or a rearview mirror. Everything I needed was in the box – pen, wax, tray and tweezers. I put one in the window over the sink, it makes washing up nicer. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

Bought it as a starter kit for myself and it worked out great. Nice and light, won’t pull on the curtain rod. I found it really peaceful to focus on one small area at a time. The colors work beautifully with the room. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. Still worth it overall.

This one caught my eye and I’m glad it did. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. I’ve been doing it in the evenings with my partner, we take turns on sections. Wish there were two hanging holes for stability. Still a solid purchase.

  4. Daniel S. (verified owner) –

Really nice kit, especially for the money. The edges are smooth, no sharp bits. One edge was slightly rough before I sanded it. I worked on this during my lunch breaks and it made the days feel better. Would order again despite the small issues.

I have one hanging by the back door and it makes me smile every day. The piece lies flat rather than curling. Surprisingly calming, even for someone with a short attention span. One edge needed a light sanding. It’s earned a spot on the wall. Overall happy, just a few small things.

I bought this for my car and it makes me smile at red lights. Nothing was crushed or bent in transit. I finished it faster than I expected because I kept coming back to it. Wish there were two hanging holes for stability. Still a good kit overall.

This is my fourth kit from DOTZSO and the quality is holding up. Everything I needed was in the box – pen, wax, tray and tweezers. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. The finished piece gets compliments from everyone who visits. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  8. Frances P. –

These are lovely little pieces – delicate but not flimsy. Both sides are finished, so it looks good from inside and outside. I did this with my mom on the weekends and we both got into it. It’s the kind of project you feel good about finishing. It’s lighter than I expected, moves a lot in a draft. I’d recommend it with that one note.

Made a few for gifts and kept one for myself. It’s the kind of project you feel good about finishing. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

This looks beautiful in the window. Good size, noticeable without overwhelming the window. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. It’s light enough that a draft moves it around. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

This was a fun quick project with a pretty result. Good size, noticeable but not overwhelming in the window. Wish there were two hanging holes for stability. I did most of it over a lazy weekend and enjoyed every minute. Still worth it overall.

  12. Molly Lloyd (verified owner) –

Bought a few to hang along the porch. Everything I needed was in the box – pen, wax, tray and tweezers. A few drills had rough edges that needed picking off. It’s the kind of hobby that makes an evening feel well spent. It hangs by the back door and gets a comment from everyone. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Bought this to brighten up a dull kitchen window. It hangs by the back door and gets noticed by everyone. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. Still a good kit overall.

  14. Randall Murillo (verified owner) –

This was a lovely little kit to work through. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. It reads as a deliberate design choice, not a craft. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

  15. Jing G. (verified owner) –

The way the light comes through this is honestly my favorite part. The finish is smooth and catches light from every angle. Would have liked a small suction hook included. Looks lovely hanging in the front window. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

Bought this for my mom and she hung it immediately. Made these for my craft group and everyone loved theirs. Two hanging points would make it steadier. Still worth it overall.

My third kit from this shop and still really pleased. Good size, noticeable but not overwhelming in the window. Took me a while to get the hang of the multi-placer tip. Looks lovely on the patio door. Overall happy, just a few small things.

  18. Jing Beck (verified owner) –

I made these as Christmas ornaments and they looked lovely on the tree. Colors match the listing photo really closely. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. I set aside twenty minutes a night for this and it’s become a ritual. Instructions were minimal, though it’s easy enough to figure out. It’s a nice conversation piece when people visit. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

A friend recommended this shop and I see why. These make sweet little thank-you gifts. It’s light enough that a draft moves it around. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

I saw this on the shop page and couldn’t talk myself out of it. The acrylic is clear and lets a lot of light through. I take it on the porch in the evenings when the weather is nice. The hanging string it comes with is a bit short. Hung one in my office window and it cheers up the space. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

  21. Norma Small –

I picked this up on a whim and ended up really enjoying it. The drills have a nice sparkle to them, not dull or flat. It’s lighter than I expected, moves a lot in a draft. The feathered pattern is what made me choose this one. The morning light through it is lovely. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

  22. Olive Travis (verified owner) –

Picked this up to try something different and really enjoyed it. Lightweight but the acrylic doesn’t feel brittle. Extra drills were included for every color, which I appreciated. I work on it while listening to an audiobook and the time just disappears. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart. I gave these as gifts and everyone was delighted. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

  23. Kerry Moss –

Ordered two of these and gave one away as a gift. The chain/string it came with is sturdy enough for daily use. The coverage near the hanging hole is slightly sparse. The bird motif makes it feel special. Made these for my craft group and everyone loved theirs. Still a good kit overall.

I’ve had my eye on this design since last season. The hanging hole is cleanly finished with no cracking. The wax was a little stiff at first. It’s hanging in the kitchen window and throws lovely color. Minor gripes aside, I’d buy it again.
