Why This Dog Pendant Earns Its Place on Display

This Dog design shows a dog seated facing outward, ears relaxed, coat textured in layered strokes with the muzzle and eyes worked in finer detail. The colour work runs through warm tans and creams with darker shading at the ears and back — an overall feel that is warm and loyal, never busy. A dog portrait is one of the few decorations a household will keep permanently, which is why the detailing matters. It is designed to be packed away and brought out again, not used once. Designed for entryways and family rooms, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference GT2077. A dog portrait is one of the few decorations a household will keep permanently, which is why the detailing matters.

a dog portrait is one of the few decorations a household will keep permanently, which is why the detailing matters. In practice that means the finished piece sits comfortably in entryways and family rooms, where the warm character of the palette does the decorating for you.

This DOTZSO kit suits anyone who likes a seasonal project they can complete in a few evenings. The kit includes the printed pendant blank, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy, a ribbon loop and pictorial steps.

The pendant blank is the part that matters. It is rigid enough to hold its shape on a door or a branch without curling at the edges.

Working the blank in full drill is what makes the pendant look made rather than part-finished.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed pendant blank
  • 1 × hanging ribbon loop
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed pendant blank flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time around the blank.
  5. Continue until the face is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book to seat every drill.
  6. Attach the ribbon loop once the surface is sealed, then hang the piece.

Take it one colour at a time, and hang the finished piece the same week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the hanging pendant kit in the listing the same as what is delivered?

Yes. The Dog hanging pendant kit ships complete with the ribbon loop ready to attach, so the piece can hang as soon as the surface is sealed, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference GT2077.

Is the Dog design robust once the sealing step is done?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Dog design holds under normal use. It is built for indoor use; a covered porch is fine, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Light contact and normal carrying cause no lift on the Dog surface.

How do I keep the Dog surface dust free?

Dust with a dry, soft brush; keep it out of prolonged direct sun and rain — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Dog palette, warm tans and creams tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Keeping the Dog piece dust-free is the whole routine.

Is the Dog surface fully worked?

The face is drilled across the whole blank, so the finished piece has complete coverage without bare board showing. The Dog artwork is drawn so that a dog seated facing outward reads clearly at any distance. The Dog pattern is applied across the entire surface.

Is the Dog design a weekend project?

Roughly one to two evenings for most people, depending on the size of the blank. The Dog design is warm and loyal, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. It works well as an ongoing project.

Would I manage the Dog design with no experience?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the pendant blank and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Dog layout is warm and loyal, which helps on a first attempt. All components arrive together.

My third kit from this shop and still really pleased. Very pleased with how it came together. The packaging was a little crushed on one corner. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

  2. Cynthia L. –

Really charming little project with a big payoff. It’s on the bathroom window and the morning light is lovely. It’s lighter than I expected, moves a lot in a draft. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  3. Michael D. (verified owner) –

I put one in every window in the front room. The acrylic is clear and lets a lot of light through. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  4. Kevin Lancaster (verified owner) –

This is a small project with a big payoff once it’s hanging. A really satisfying project from start to finish. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. Good kit — the notes above are minor.

  5. Mildred Bronson (verified owner) –

Ordered this for a quiet weekend and it delivered. Both sides are finished so it looks good inside and out. I worked through it over several quiet evenings. It’s lighter than I expected, moves a lot in a draft. I’ve had three people ask me where I bought it. Mild quibbles, but a good purchase.

  6. Alyssa Fitch (verified owner) –

So much prettier in person once you get it up in a window. Good size, noticeable but not overwhelming in the window. Surprisingly calming, even for someone with a short attention span. The final result has a nice depth to it. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

I’m a repeat DOTZSO customer at this point and this kit did not disappoint. Both sides are finished, so it looks good from inside and outside. Looks lovely hanging in the front window. The drill coverage near the hanging hole is a little sparse. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  8. Travis T. (verified owner) –

Exactly what the listing described, no surprises. The hanging hole is cleanly finished, no cracking. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. Looks lovely on the patio door. Wish there were two hanging holes for stability. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

Bought this to brighten up a dull kitchen window. Great value for what you get. The packaging arrived a little dented. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

  10. Wilma Bradley (verified owner) –

These are lovely little pieces – delicate but not flimsy. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  11. Estelle Hanson (verified owner) –

I’ve done a handful of these now and this one is up there with the best. The colors come through beautifully when the sun hits. The pen was fine, though I ended up using my own. It turns a plain window into something worth looking at. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  12. Delores Suarez (verified owner) –

My sister got me into these and this is my latest one. The light through it in the afternoon is beautiful. A small hook would have been a nice inclusion. Still a solid purchase.

  13. ShelfAndSpool –

Bought this as a birthday present to myself. Lightweight but the acrylic doesn’t feel brittle. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it. The hanging string it comes with is a bit short. Still a solid purchase.

  14. Colby Chambers (verified owner) –

Lightweight and easy to hang, which I appreciated. The puppy motif is what drew me in. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. The clear acrylic lets plenty of light through. Really calming, repetitive work, and satisfying when a section is finished. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

  15. Sergio Kelley (verified owner) –

Was looking for something to do with my hands in the evenings. Everything felt well made, from the tools to the drills. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. Two hanging points would make it steadier. Looks lovely hanging in the front window. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

  16. Andrew Willis (verified owner) –

I have one hanging by the back door and it makes me smile every day. The pen and wax worked fine, I didn’t need to dig out my own tools. Nice to have a hobby that leaves you calmer than you started. The drill coverage near the hanging hole is a little sparse. The dog palette works really well with the design. Overall happy, just a few small things.

So much prettier in person once you get it up in a window. Really pleased with how it turned out. This is a lovely puppy piece for the price. The hanging string it comes with is a bit short. Worth it despite the small things.

This was a fun quick project with a pretty result. The edges are smooth, no sharp bits. I made several and hung them along the porch. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  19. Sarah Horton (verified owner) –

Really charming little project with a big payoff. The finish is smooth and catches light from every angle. The tray included is on the small side. It’s on the bathroom window and the morning light is lovely. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

Made these for gifts and everyone adored them. The hanging hole is cleanly finished, no cracking. It’s lighter than I expected, moves a lot in a draft. I take it to my book club and work on it while we chat. It makes the whole window feel more cheerful. Happy with it, with a few caveats.
