About This Abstract Style Design

The Abstract Style artwork on this canvas frames broad gestural strokes sweeping across the canvas, some laid thick and others feathered thin, resolving into two balanced masses, worked in warm neutrals with one saturated accent running diagonally through the composition. The overall character is confident and modern rather than theatrical. Gestural abstracts bring the energy of a painted canvas without requiring you to paint it. It suits makers who would rather build a piece of decor than buy one. Designed for open-plan living spaces, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference Q4314 -Q4319. The thick-to-thin stroke transitions use more drill gradation than a flat block, which is what stops it reading as wallpaper Put simply, gestural abstracts bring the energy of a painted canvas without requiring you to paint it.

gestural abstracts bring the energy of a painted canvas without requiring you to paint it. The confident colouring is what allows it to sit in open-plan living spaces without dominating.

A DOTZSO kit is put together so the process stays unhurried and the finished canvas is worth framing. Along with the canvas come DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial steps.

A good canvas print is half the finished result. This one is produced so the symbols stay legible through a long project rather than fading at the edges.

Supplied as 6 separate canvases, so the set can be worked one design at a time.

What’s in the Box

  • 6 × colour-printed canvas
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than jumping around the canvas.
  5. Continue until the design is complete, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seat the canvas in its frame, or store it flat, once the surface has been pressed.

Work through it colour by colour, then frame the canvas and hang it where it gets seen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly ships with this diamond painting kit?

Yes. The Abstract Style diamond painting kit ships complete with everything shown in the product images, so there is nothing else to source, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q4314 -Q4319.

Is the Abstract Style diamond painting kit durable enough to actually use?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Abstract Style design holds under normal use. The sealed surface handles normal handling, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Handling the Abstract Style piece normally will not disturb the drills.

How should the Abstract Style surface be handled during cleaning?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Abstract Style palette, warm neutrals tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. The Abstract Style colours stay true with basic care.

Is the Abstract Style design full drill or partial drill?

The round resin drills are colour-sorted and matched to the printed symbol key. The Abstract Style artwork is drawn so that broad gestural strokes sweeping across the canvas reads clearly at any distance. There are no unworked sections on the Abstract Style piece.

What time should I set aside for the Abstract Style diamond painting kit?

Plan for two to four evenings, depending on the size of the canvas. The Abstract Style design is confident and modern, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Work it a colour at a time and the Abstract Style piece moves quickly.

Is the Abstract Style design one to start with or work up to?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the canvas and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Abstract Style layout is confident and modern, which helps on a first attempt. Everything ships together in one box.

Took it slow, a section at a time, and really enjoyed the process. Framed in a simple black frame and it looks like real art. The glue picked up a bit of dust over the weeks I worked on it. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

This kept me busy for a solid month in the best way. Gave it to my best friend as a gift and it went over really well. The abstract detail comes together really nicely once it’s finished. Really pleased with this one.

This one took some patience but the result is stunning. Legend is printed on the canvas itself, which I find handy. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. Looks beautiful in our living room, the colors tie everything together. Very happy with this purchase.

Bought this for the living room wall and it was worth the time. Full drill coverage means no blank canvas showing. I worked on it while the kids did homework. It’s framed and on the wall now. Really pleased with this one.

  8. Olivia Hall (verified owner) –

Ordered this to work on through the winter evenings. The paper backing peeled away without pulling up any drills. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. I gave one to my sister and she immediately ordered her own. Exactly what I wanted.

  9. Bernice Cooley (verified owner) –

I wanted something substantial enough to last a few weeks. The large format makes a real statement when finished. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. The glue picked up a bit of dust over the weeks I worked on it. It fills the wall above the sofa beautifully. A solid purchase with a couple of notes.

  10. Pauline Quinn (verified owner) –

This is the largest kit I’ve done and it turned out beautifully. The glue is tacky enough to reposition a misplaced drill. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. It fills the wall exactly the way I hoped. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  11. Lyle Erickson –

I’ve had my eye on this design since last season. The canvas doesn’t curl at the corners after working on it. The finish is even across the whole piece. The work is repetitive in a good way. Once framed it looks like something you’d buy in a gallery. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

  12. Megan H. (verified owner) –

Bigger than it looks in the photos, which was a nice surprise. It was worth every evening I spent on it. Took a bit longer to arrive than I expected. If you like abstract designs, this is a good one to go for. Still a solid purchase.

  13. Wilfred Lipscomb (verified owner) –

This canvas has enough going on to stay interesting for weeks. The contemporary artwork comes together beautifully as you work. Legend is printed on the canvas itself, which I find handy. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. Minor gripes aside, I’d buy it again.

Ordered it after seeing one a friend finished, and I get the appeal now. Looks beautiful in our living room, the colors tie everything together. Took longer than the estimated time, but that’s on me. I’d recommend it with that one note.

I keep a project going at all times and this is the current one. Full drill coverage means no blank canvas showing. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. It looks like a gallery piece now that it’s framed. The contemporary artwork comes together beautifully as you work. Will definitely be back.

A bigger project than I’ve done before, but so worth the time. The canvas came rolled, and it flattened out with no creases. It’s become my evening ritual – an hour of this and I feel settled. Once framed it looks like something you’d buy in a gallery. Would definitely buy again.

Took me a few weeks of evenings and I loved every minute. The glue is tacky enough that I can reposition if I misplace a drill. If you like abstract designs, this is a good one to go for. Once framed it looks like something you’d buy in a gallery. Solid kit, would order again.

A bigger project than I’ve done before, but so worth the time. Full drill coverage means no blank canvas showing through. It’s the nicest thing I’ve made so far. A couple of the darker shades were hard to tell apart in low light. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

I’ve done smaller kits and this felt like a proper project. The symbols on the chart were easy to follow from start to finish. Really calming, repetitive work, and satisfying when a section is finished. It’s a big piece, so it does take real commitment. The contemporary detail is impressive up close. Would recommend it with those notes.

The detail on this canvas is what sold me. If this style appeals to you, it delivers. Drills cover edge to edge with no bald spots. I set aside twenty minutes a night for this and it’s become a ritual. Looks lovely framed and hung up. I’d have liked a paper chart as well as the printed one. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

This showed up faster than I expected and I started it the same night. Symbol letters are small but legible, and the legend helped a lot. Bought this because the design has real depth to it. The symbol chart is legible across the entire sheet. I did a little at a time and it never felt like a slog. One section had a lot of similar shades, which slowed me down. It looks like a gallery print from across the room. Would still recommend it.
