About This Butterfly Design

A butterfly with wings held open, each panel showing graded colour from deep centre to translucent edge, antennae and body picked out in fine detail forms the subject of this Butterfly piece, worked in iridescent blues and violets shifting toward warm orange at the wing edges. The character is delicate and alive, and it stays that way at any distance. Butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it. It is aimed at makers who want a canvas detailed enough to frame rather than store. Designed for hallways and entryways, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference Q4213. butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it, and the treatment of the colour is what carries it.

butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it. That is what puts it at home in hallways and entryways, with the delicate tone of the colours carrying the room.

A DOTZSO kit is put together so the process stays unhurried and the finished canvas is worth framing. Along with the canvas come DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial steps.

A good canvas print is half the finished result. This one is produced so the symbols stay legible through a long project rather than fading at the edges.

Supplied as 1 separate canvases, so the set can be worked one design at a time.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × colour-printed canvas
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than jumping around the canvas.
  5. Continue until the design is complete, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seat the canvas in its frame, or store it flat, once the surface has been pressed.

Work through it colour by colour, then frame the canvas and hang it where it gets seen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Butterfly diamond painting kit cover everything from start to finish?

Yes. The Butterfly diamond painting kit ships complete with everything shown in the product images, so there is nothing else to source, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q4213.

Will the Butterfly design wear well over time?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Butterfly design holds under normal use. The sealed surface handles normal handling, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The Butterfly surface takes everyday use in its stride.

What is the best way to keep the Butterfly diamond painting kit tidy?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Butterfly palette, iridescent blues and violets shifting toward warm orange at the wing edges tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. A soft dry brush is the safest tool for the Butterfly texture.

Does the Butterfly diamond painting kit cover the whole face with drills?

The round resin drills are colour-sorted and matched to the printed symbol key. The Butterfly artwork is drawn so that a butterfly with wings held open reads clearly at any distance. There is no printed fill showing through on the Butterfly design.

Does the Butterfly diamond painting kit suit someone with limited free time?

Plan for two to four evenings, depending on the size of the canvas. The Butterfly design is delicate and alive, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Break it into short sessions and it never feels long.

Is the Butterfly diamond painting kit beginner friendly?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the canvas and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Butterfly layout is delicate and alive, which helps on a first attempt. Everything is supplied in the one pack.

Took me a few weeks of evenings and I loved every minute. The drills cover edge to edge with no bald spots. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. The finished piece looks stunning in natural light. I’ll be ordering more.

This kept me busy for a solid month in the best way. The glue is tacky enough that I can reposition if I misplace a drill. Glue coverage was even, no dry patches anywhere. This is the kind of craft that’s genuinely calming after a hectic day. It fills the wall above the sofa nicely. Worth every penny.

I hung it in the hallway and people always ask where I got it. Edges have enough margin for framing. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. Looks beautiful in our living room, the colors tie everything together. Would definitely buy again.

Second time ordering this style, still happy with it. The canvas came rolled, and it flattened out with no creases. Perfect for winding down before bed, much better than watching another show. Once framed it looks like something you’d buy in a gallery. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

This was a bigger project and I loved every evening of it. The higher color count really shows in the finished piece. I set it up next to the window and do a few rows whenever the light is good. Looks lovely framed and hung up. Would definitely buy again.

I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket and this was the pick. The printed canvas is genuinely crisp, even in the dense areas. It’s the sort of project that makes an evening feel well spent. It would help to include a larger paper chart. It looks far more detailed than the kit suggested. Would still recommend it.

I’ve done smaller kits and this felt like a proper project. The glue is tacky enough to reposition a misplaced drill. A few drills had rough edges that needed picking off. I spread it over a week and enjoyed every session. Still glad I ordered it overall.

Took it slow, a section at a time, and really enjoyed the process. The fabric has a good weight to it and hangs flat. The winged motif makes it feel special. Great for unwinding after a busy week. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. Once it was framed it really pulled the room together. Would order again despite the small issues.

Came across this while looking for craft ideas and bought it that day. Full drill coverage means no blank canvas showing. I went with the butterfly version and the colors are lovely.
