About This Dragon Design

This Dragon design shows a dragon coiled around a central focal form, scales worked in tight overlapping rows across the back and tail. The colour work runs through deep emerald and jade with gold accents against a dark ground — an overall feel that is mythic and bold, never busy. Dragon pieces appeal to collectors and fantasy readers, and the scale detail is the reason they reorder. It is aimed at makers who want a canvas detailed enough to frame rather than store. Designed for statement walls and themed rooms, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference Q4827. dragon pieces appeal to collectors and fantasy readers, and the scale detail is the reason they reorder. That is the part that matters most here.

dragon pieces appeal to collectors and fantasy readers, and the scale detail is the reason they reorder. The mythic colouring is what allows it to sit in statement walls and themed rooms without dominating.

A DOTZSO kit is put together so the process stays unhurried and the finished canvas is worth framing. Along with the canvas come DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial steps.

A good canvas print is half the finished result. This one is produced so the symbols stay legible through a long project rather than fading at the edges.

Supplied as 1 separate canvases, so the set can be worked one design at a time.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × colour-printed canvas
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than jumping around the canvas.
  5. Continue until the design is complete, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seat the canvas in its frame, or store it flat, once the surface has been pressed.

Work through it colour by colour, then frame the canvas and hang it where it gets seen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any components of this diamond painting kit I have to source myself?

Yes. The Dragon diamond painting kit ships complete with everything shown in the product images, so there is nothing else to source, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q4827.

Is the Dragon diamond painting kit tough enough for a busy household?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Dragon design holds under normal use. The sealed surface handles normal handling, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Normal wear leaves the Dragon surface unaffected.

Does cleaning the Dragon diamond painting kit risk loosening the drills?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Dragon palette, deep emerald and jade tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Wipe along the drill lines rather than across them.

How consistent is the coverage on the Dragon diamond painting kit?

The round resin drills are colour-sorted and matched to the printed symbol key. The Dragon artwork is drawn so that a dragon coiled around a central focal form reads clearly at any distance. Coverage on the Dragon piece does not vary across the design.

Is the Dragon project a quick one or a long one?

Plan for two to four evenings, depending on the size of the canvas. The Dragon design is mythic and bold, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Dragon pattern rewards steady work rather than rushing.

Is the Dragon diamond painting kit gentle enough for a newcomer?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the canvas and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Dragon layout is mythic and bold, which helps on a first attempt. All the essentials come in the box.

  1. Olivia M. –

Looks great standing up on a shelf without any frame at all. The canvas laid flat after a day under a couple of books. The dragon piece really pulls the room together once it’s hung. Would love a small stand included in the box. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. Still worth it overall.

Came quickly and was packaged really well. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. Perfect for winding down before bed, much better than watching another show. Would love a small stand included in the box. Overall a good experience.

Ordered it after seeing one a friend finished, and I get the appeal now. The colors work beautifully with the room. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

  4. Logan Turner (verified owner) –

Bought it for a rainy weekend and it was exactly what I needed. Edges are smooth and finished, no rough die-cut bits. I had to press the canvas under books overnight before starting. It brightens up my desk at work. Small things aside, it’s a good buy.

  5. Thomas Ervin (verified owner) –

Bought this because the silhouette caught my eye. Nothing was damaged in shipping and the packaging was neat. The backing is a little thinner than I expected. It turned out better than I pictured. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

  6. Neil Cantu (verified owner) –

This came recommended in a crafting group I follow. Nice thickness, feels like a decor piece rather than a flat canvas. Really soothing to focus on one small area at a time. Doesn’t stand up as straight as the photos suggest. Looks lovely on the windowsill. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

  7. Wendy Salazar (verified owner) –

Nice to do something that isn’t the standard canvas. The backing is rigid so it stands on its own. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. It’s found a permanent spot in the house. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. Still glad I ordered it overall.

Looks great standing up on a shelf without any frame at all. The drills sit nice and flush, no gaps showing the surface underneath. I put it on a shelf in the hallway and it stands up beautifully. Doesn’t stand up as straight as the photos suggest. Still a solid purchase.

Been doing these for about two years and this kit is solid. The shape is well defined and looks great displayed. The box arrived a bit dented, though nothing inside was damaged. No frame needed, so I could display it right away. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

  10. YarnAndDots (verified owner) –

Looks great standing up on a shelf without any frame at all. It’s thick enough to stand on a shelf without leaning. Drill colors are well separated, no squinting to tell two shades apart. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. The dragon piece really pulls the room together once it’s hung. The canvas smell was noticeable for the first day or two. Looks lovely framed and hung up. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

This one looks great on a shelf as-is. The backing is rigid so it stands up on its own. The wax ran low before I finished the last section. It stands on the mantel and looks great there. Minor quibbles aside, I’d buy it again.

  12. Elena T. (verified owner) –

The shape is what caught my eye and it delivered. Stands upright easily, no stand or frame needed. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. It’s my go-to when I want something enjoyable that doesn’t take much thought. Still worth it overall.

This was a fun change from the flat canvases. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. It was easy to pick up and put down without losing my place. The colors work together better than I expected. A few bags weren’t labeled as clearly as the rest. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

It reads as a little sculpture once finished. It stands up on the dresser and looks charming. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

This one was a gift for my nephew and it went over really well. Edges are smooth and finished, no rough die-cut bits. The backing is a little thinner than I expected. I brought it on a weekend trip and finished most of it there. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  16. Lynda Stokes (verified owner) –

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m very happy with it. It stands up on the dresser and looks charming. A small stand in the box would be a nice touch. Overall happy, just a few small things.

  17. Nicole Franklin –

This was a fun change from the flat canvases. The canvas printing is crisp and the symbols are easy to read, even in low light. The finish is even across the whole piece. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. This one is going straight on the wall. The tray included is on the small side. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

Nice to do something that isn’t the standard canvas. The canvas laid flat after a day under a couple of books. I did most of it over a lazy weekend and enjoyed every minute. The backing is a little thinner than I expected. Would still recommend it.

  19. Marsha Schroeder (verified owner) –

Bought two and they look great side by side. The shape is cut cleanly with neat edges all around. The wax and pen that came with it worked fine right out of the box. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. A few drills had rough edges that needed picking off. It’s on the entryway table and everyone asks about it. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

  20. Candace Meyer (verified owner) –

No framing or trimming needed, which I really appreciated. The canvas feels substantial, not thin or flimsy. I worked on this with my mother and we both got absorbed in it. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. It’s on a shelf in the hallway and gets noticed. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

  21. Laurie Neal (verified owner) –

Bought it to have something to look forward to after work. The sparkle on these drills is genuinely nice. The wax ran low before I finished the last section. Looks great as a shelf sitter among my plants. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  22. Maria Sparks (verified owner) –

The shaped canvas was such a nice change from the usual rectangles. Nice thickness, feels like a decor piece rather than a flat canvas. There were slightly more drills than needed, so it took longer than planned. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. Still a solid purchase.

  23. Pablo Gray (verified owner) –

I don’t usually leave reviews but this one deserved it. It’s become a favorite on the bookshelf. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. Solid overall, just a couple of nitpicks.

  24. Jerome Casey (verified owner) –

Love that this isn’t the usual rectangle. Backing is firm and hasn’t warped at all. Something about placing the drills is very settling. Instructions were pretty minimal, though there are plenty of tutorials online. It stands up on the dresser and looks like a little sculpture. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

This one looks great on a shelf as-is. The cutout is precise and looks intentional. The outline makes the edge drills a bit fiddly. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. Overall happy, just a few small things.

  26. Nicholas Potts (verified owner) –

This stands up on its own which is a nice bonus. The outline is crisp, which is what makes it read well from across the room. I work on it after dinner and it helps me switch off. I had to press the canvas under books overnight before starting. Worth it despite the small things.

  27. Heather E. (verified owner) –

The silhouette alone makes it look special on a shelf. No missing colors and no shortage on the ones used most. I keep it set up on a side table and do a bit whenever I have ten minutes. I’ll be buying more from this shop. The adhesive picked up a bit of dust while I was working over several days. Still a solid purchase.

Looks great standing up on a shelf without any frame at all. Really cute displayed on a shelf with other small decor. There were slightly more drills than needed, so it took longer than planned. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.
