Why This Camping Tray Earns Its Place on the Table

This is a tent pitched beside a small fire, pine trees behind and a wide sky above, with gear resting at the entrance treated as a Camping subject, coloured in forest green and canvas tan with warm firelight against a deep blue dusk. Not loud, not empty — simply outdoorsy and quiet. Camping scenes sell to people who want the outdoors on the wall rather than in a photograph. It is designed for daily service rather than occasional entertaining. Designed for cabins, dens and adventure-themed rooms, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference CP25-2. camping scenes sell to people who want the outdoors on the wall rather than in a photograph Everything downstream of that follows the same logic.

camping scenes sell to people who want the outdoors on the wall rather than in a photograph. That is the reason it reads as furniture in cabins, dens and adventure-themed rooms rather than as decoration.

This DOTZSO kit suits anyone who likes a project that improves the room when it is done. The kit includes the printed wooden tray, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and pictorial steps.

The tray body is the part that matters. The printed surface is sealed after the drills are seated, so the tray takes hot mugs and plates without marking.

Working the base in full drill is what makes the tray look made rather than part-finished.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed wooden tray with cut-in handles
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed tray face flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than across the whole tray.
  5. Continue until the face is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface fully before the tray goes into service, or the drills will lift under a plate.

Take it one colour at a time, and let the finished tray move onto the counter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the wooden tray kit complete as shipped for the Camping design?

Yes. The Camping wooden tray kit ships complete with the wooden tray and cut-in handles; you drill the printed face and then the tray goes into service, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference CP25-2.

Is the Camping surface tough enough for daily contact?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Camping design holds under normal use. The surface is sealed, so it handles mugs and plates in normal use. Very hot pans straight from the hob are another matter — use a trivet, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The resin drills bond firmly across the Camping pattern.

Can the Camping wooden tray kit be wiped over without harm?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Camping palette, forest green and canvas tan tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. A soft dry brush is the safest tool for the Camping texture.

Is the Camping design drilled right to the edges?

The face is drilled across the whole surface, so the finished tray has complete coverage without bare wood showing. The Camping artwork is drawn so that a tent pitched beside a small fire reads clearly at any distance. Every section of the Camping design carries drills.

How demanding is the Camping project time-wise?

Plan for a few sessions rather than one. Working a single colour block at a time is faster than moving across the tray at random. The Camping design is outdoorsy and quiet, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. The Camping design suits working one colour block at a time.

Which Camping format is the most versatile?

The range covers 7.8 × 11.8 in, 9.8 × 13.8 in and 12.2 × 16.1 in, so there is a format for a bedside table or a full dinner service. This listing is the 12.2×16.1 in format. Reference CP25-2.

Made one for my sister and now she wants the kit too. Everyone who sees it asks how long it took. Handles are a bit narrow for larger hands. Would order again despite the small issues.

This tray kit felt like a real step up from the flat canvases. The drill design sits flush with the tray surface. I take it to my book club and work on it while we chat. Looks beautiful on the coffee table with a candle on it. Perfect for a cozy evening project.

So glad I added this one to my cart. The base is flat and doesn’t rock on the table. It’s become my evening ritual – an hour of this and I feel settled. I keep remotes and coasters on mine when it’s not in use. Very happy with this purchase.

  4. Sarah J. (verified owner) –

Finished it over a weekend and it looks great on the ottoman. Size is right for two mugs and a small plate. The drilled panel sits slightly proud of the rim. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  5. Xavier R. –

This one caught my eye and I’m glad it did. Everything I needed was in the box – pen, wax, tray and tweezers. The adhesive is plenty sticky, the drills stay exactly where I put them. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. The drilled panel sits slightly proud of the rim. Would make a really nice gift, and it arrives boxed nicely. Still worth it overall.

  6. Sherry G. –

The wood base is much sturdier than I expected. Nice finish on the wood, not rough or unfinished. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. The packaging was a little crushed on one corner. Would order again despite the small issues.

Finished it over a weekend and it looks great on the ottoman. Drill colors are well separated, no squinting to tell two shades apart. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. The wood arrived with one small scuff on the side. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

Ordered it after seeing one a friend finished, and I get the appeal now. The adhesive is plenty sticky, the drills stay exactly where I put them. The drills are bright and consistent in size, no weird off-color batches. I did this with my neighbor on the weekends and we both got into it. Really nice piece to have out when people come over. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

Really relaxing to do in the evening instead of scrolling. I’m really proud of how it turned out. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

Came across this while looking for craft ideas and bought it that day. Solid wood, much better than the pressed board versions. I work on it while listening to an audiobook and the time just disappears. Gave one as a housewarming gift and it was a favorite. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Small issues, but nothing that would stop me ordering again.

Made this for our coffee table and get compliments on it constantly. It’s sized right for two mugs and a small plate. The sparkle on these drills is genuinely nice. The adhesive picked up lint over the days I worked on it. I keep it by my chair and pick it up whenever I have a few minutes. Really happy with the end result. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

This was my first tray kit and I’d do another. Surface is flat and level, glasses don’t wobble on it. Instructions were minimal, though it’s easy enough to figure out. It turned into something I actually want to display, not shove in a drawer. Happy enough that I’d buy another.
