Why This Bohemian Tray Earns Its Place on the Table

The Bohemian motif reads as a layered boho composition of arches, fringed forms and repeated geometric motifs arranged in loose horizontal bands here, cleared of clutter and coloured in terracotta, sand and deep rust with flashes of teal across a warm neutral ground. The mood is earthy and relaxed, and it holds. Boho motifs suit rooms built on natural materials, where the earthy palette already does half the work. It is for makers who prefer a project that improves the room when it is finished. Designed for living rooms with a warm, natural palette, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference CP11. boho motifs suit rooms built on natural materials, where the earthy palette already does half the work That constraint is what gives the artwork its shape.

boho motifs suit rooms built on natural materials, where the earthy palette already does half the work. In living rooms with a warm, natural palette the earthy register means it never has to compete for the eye.

DOTZSO makes these trays for people who would rather serve on something made than something bought. What is in the box: the printed wooden tray, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip applicator pen, a wax caddy and a pictorial instruction sheet.

The tray body is the part that matters. The printed surface is sealed after the drills are seated, so the tray takes hot mugs and plates without marking.

The whole tray face is worked, so no section looks like an afterthought.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed wooden tray with cut-in handles
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed tray face flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than across the whole tray.
  5. Continue until the face is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface fully before the tray goes into service, or the drills will lift under a plate.

Complete it over a few sessions, then let the tray settle into everyday use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Bohemian wooden tray kit delivered as one complete package?

Yes. The Bohemian wooden tray kit ships complete with the wooden tray and cut-in handles; you drill the printed face and then the tray goes into service, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference CP11.

How durable is the finished Bohemian wooden tray kit?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Bohemian design holds under normal use. The surface is sealed, so it handles mugs and plates in normal use. Very hot pans straight from the hob are another matter — use a trivet, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Light contact and normal carrying cause no lift on the Bohemian surface.

How should I clean the Bohemian wooden tray kit?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Bohemian palette, terracotta, sand and deep rust tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. A dry, soft cloth handles the routine dusting.

Is the Bohemian surface drilled as one field?

The face is drilled across the whole surface, so the finished tray has complete coverage without bare wood showing. The Bohemian artwork is drawn so that a layered boho composition of arches reads clearly at any distance. There is no printed fill showing through on the Bohemian design.

How long will the Bohemian wooden tray kit take overall?

Plan for a few sessions rather than one. Working a single colour block at a time is faster than moving across the tray at random. The Bohemian design is earthy and relaxed, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. It works well as an ongoing project.

How does sizing work across the Bohemian range?

The range covers 7.8 × 11.8 in, 9.8 × 13.8 in and 12.2 × 16.1 in, so there is a format for a bedside table or a full dinner service. This listing is the 9.8×13.8 in format. Reference CP11.

This one caught my eye and I’m glad it did. Size is right for two mugs and a small plate. The wood arrived with one small scuff on the side. I do it at the kitchen table while dinner simmers. Really nice piece to have out when people come over. Overall a good experience.

  2. Ann T. (verified owner) –

Made this for our coffee table and get compliments on it constantly. Nice finish on the wood, not rough or unfinished. I take it to my book club and work on it while we chat. Holds two mugs and a plate easily. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. Still worth it overall.

  3. Jeffrey Arellano (verified owner) –

The wood base makes this feel like real decor. The drills came in labeled bags, which made sorting painless. Shipping took a bit longer than the estimate. I got through it faster than I thought I would. I gave one to my sister and she immediately ordered her own. Still worth it overall.

  4. EveningDrills (verified owner) –

I’m a repeat DOTZSO customer at this point and this kit did not disappoint. The surface is flat and level, glasses don’t wobble. One small scuff on the wood when it arrived. It’s a good way to slow down at the end of the day. I’ll be buying more from this shop. Good enough that I’d buy another.

  5. Cynthia Wood –

I use mine for morning coffee and it’s held up well. The handles make it genuinely practical, not just decorative. You’ll want to seal it yourself if you’re putting wet glasses on it. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

  6. Gina Burgess (verified owner) –

I added this to my cart at 11pm and had zero regrets the next morning. The tray and tweezers included were better than I expected. Quiet Sunday mornings with this and a coffee is my favorite part of the week. One bag of drills had come open in transit. It’s the kind of thing guests notice right away. Happy enough that I’d buy another.

  7. Jeffrey N. (verified owner) –

I’m a repeat DOTZSO customer at this point and this kit did not disappoint. Wood feels solid, much better than the thin pressed board I’ve seen. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. My friends all want one now. Handles are a bit narrow for larger hands. Happy with it, with a few caveats.

  8. Elmer Pace (verified owner) –

My sister got me into these and this is my latest one. The adhesive held well across several weeks of working on it. The sparkle on these drills is genuinely nice. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. I use it for serving when we have guests and it always gets noticed. Not something I’d put in the dishwasher or soak, obviously. Still glad I ordered it overall.

  9. Wesley Morse (verified owner) –

Bought this to hold the remotes and it’s a huge improvement. The base is flat and sits steady on the counter. Not something I’d put in the dishwasher or soak, obviously. The work is repetitive in a good way. The result looks handmade in the best way. Would still recommend it.

  10. Lydia Kearney –

Heavier and nicer in person than it looked online. The finish looks polished rather than homemade. It’s organized the whole surface with one addition. The rim could be a touch deeper. Would order again despite the small issues.

  11. Winnie Krause (verified owner) –

Picked this up for our coffee table and it ties the room together. It holds far more than I expected. It would help to include a larger paper chart. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

  12. Rupert Levy (verified owner) –

Ordered two so my sister and I could work on them side by side. The rim is deep enough to actually hold things. I did most of it over a lazy weekend and enjoyed every minute. The finished work looks considered, not like a craft project. Some colors had very few spare drills. Good enough that I’d buy another.

  13. Alma Harrington (verified owner) –

Finished it over a weekend and it looks great on the ottoman. The tray and tweezers included were better than I expected. Nice to have something that gets me off my phone for a while. I wish it came pre-sealed. Still a solid purchase.

  14. Constance Romero (verified owner) –

Gave one to my in-laws and they display it proudly. I can carry a full mug without worrying about the handles. Finish is even and the whole thing looks tidy once you’re done. Nice to have a hobby that leaves you calmer than you started. One small scuff on the wood when it arrived. I use it for serving when we have people over. Good enough that I’d buy another.

  15. Grant Schultz (verified owner) –

Bought this for our coffee table and it’s become a fixture. The canvas print is sharp and the symbols are legible. Handles are a bit narrow for larger hands. Great gift for anyone who likes hosting. Worth it despite the small things.

  16. Samuel Goff (verified owner) –

My third kit from this shop and still really pleased. The tray has real weight to it, feels like serveware. The work never felt like a chore. The tray was smaller than I’d like for a big session. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

  17. Jill Mack (verified owner) –

The handles make it feel like real serveware, not just a craft. Looks beautiful on the coffee table with a candle on it. Not something I’d put in the dishwasher or soak, obviously. Happy with it despite the small stuff.

Heavier and nicer in person than it looked online. Colors match the listing photo really closely. Not something I’d put in the dishwasher or soak, obviously. It’s easy to pick up and put down, which suits my schedule. It holds far more than I expected. A good buy, with one or two caveats.

  19. Conor Sargent (verified owner) –

Not my first diamond painting, but one of my favorites. The handles make it genuinely easy to carry. Shipping took a bit longer than the estimate. I brought it on a weekend trip and finished most of it there. Good enough that I’d buy another.

This was my first tray kit and I’d do another. The size is right for the space I had in mind. It’s a lovely quiet hobby, and I like having something to show for it at the end. I use it for serving when we have people over. I wish it came pre-sealed. I’d order again, just knowing what to expect.

This one took a bit more time and was worth it. My mother-in-law displays hers proudly. It’s slightly heavier than I expected. Still a good kit overall.

  22. Patricia Pruitt (verified owner) –

Bought this for our coffee table and it’s become a fixture. The edges are sealed so nothing catches on them. Surprisingly calming, even for someone with a short attention span. The pen that came with it is a bit flimsy, I swapped in my own. Still a good kit overall.

  23. Devon Dunn (verified owner) –

This one took a bit more time and was worth it. Nice finish on the wood, not rough or unfinished. The canvas had a faint mark from the printing on one edge. Gave it as a housewarming gift and it was the favorite present. Would order again despite the small issues.

  24. Mitchell Wiley (verified owner) –

I use mine every morning for coffee. Nice finish on the wood, not rough or unfinished. Nice mindful project – you can’t think about much else while you’re placing drills. The wax ran out before I finished and I had to use my own. Looks beautiful on the coffee table with a candle on it. Happy with it, with one small caveat.

The wood base is much sturdier than I expected. Would make a really nice gift, and it arrives boxed nicely. You’ll want to seal it yourself if you’ll set wet glasses on it. Worth it despite the small things.
