About This Butterfly Design

This Butterfly design shows a butterfly with wings held open, each panel showing graded colour from deep centre to translucent edge, antennae and body picked out in fine detail. The colour work runs through iridescent blues and violets shifting toward warm orange at the wing edges — an overall feel that is delicate and alive, never busy. Butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it. It is designed for rainy weekends and long winter evenings indoors. Designed for hallways and entryways, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference Q4881. butterfly motifs work in the transitional spaces of a home — the places that do not need a theme, just something with life in it. In practice that means the finished piece sits comfortably in hallways and entryways, where the delicate character of the palette does the decorating for you.

Each DOTZSO canvas is produced to be worked at your own pace and framed at the end of it. You get a colour-printed canvas, DOTZSO resin drills, a sorting tray, a comfort-grip pen, a wax caddy and clear step-by-step pictures.

Full drill coverage is the reason the finished canvas reads as artwork rather than craft. Every printed symbol is worked, so the shine is consistent across the whole surface.

The kit holds 1 canvases, allowing for a longer project or a shared session.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × colour-printed canvas
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Unroll the canvas on a flat surface and let it settle under something weighted if it has been rolled tight.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than jumping around the canvas.
  5. Continue until the design is complete, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seat the canvas in its frame, or store it flat, once the surface has been pressed.

Complete it across a few quiet sessions, then frame it and let it hold the wall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the diamond painting kit ready to use straight away?

Yes. The Butterfly diamond painting kit ships complete with everything shown in the product images, so there is nothing else to source, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference Q4881.

Will the Butterfly diamond painting kit stand up to regular use?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Butterfly design holds under normal use. The sealed surface handles normal handling, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. The bond across the Butterfly face is consistent throughout.

How do I remove marks from the Butterfly surface?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Butterfly palette, iridescent blues and violets shifting toward warm orange at the wing edges tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun to hold the Butterfly colours.

Does the Butterfly artwork have unworked sections?

The round resin drills are colour-sorted and matched to the printed symbol key. The Butterfly artwork is drawn so that a butterfly with wings held open reads clearly at any distance. The Butterfly piece has a uniform drilled finish.

Is the Butterfly design a slow build or a fast finish?

Plan for two to four evenings, depending on the size of the canvas. The Butterfly design is delicate and alive, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Progress on the Butterfly piece is visibly steady.

Is the Butterfly design forgiving for beginners?

Yes. The symbol key is printed directly on the canvas and the pictorial instructions walk through the whole process, so no prior diamond painting experience is needed. The Butterfly layout is delicate and alive, which helps on a first attempt. Nothing has to be sourced locally.

I’m a repeat DOTZSO customer at this point and this kit did not disappoint. The drills cover edge to edge with no bald spots. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. I brought it on a week at the lake and finished most of it there. Really proud to have this hanging in the house. Easy recommendation.

Bigger than it looks in the photos, which was a nice surprise. The canvas is a good weight and the print underneath is detailed. I worked on this during my lunch breaks and it made the days feel better. The symbols are quite small in the detailed areas. Once framed it looks like something you’d buy in a gallery. Still a solid purchase.

The finished size makes a real statement on the wall. The canvas surface has a slight texture that helps the drills grip. I find it relaxing to just follow the chart and let my mind wander. It’s the focal point of the hallway now. Really happy with this one.

Saw a finished version online and tracked down this kit the same day. The drills cover edge to edge with no bald spots. I found the whole thing very easy to settle into. I’d order this again.

Took it slow, a section at a time, and really enjoyed the process. Colors match the listing photo really closely. Each color was packed generously, I had plenty to spare. I worked on this during my lunch breaks and it made the days feel better. Really happy with the end result. The winged subject is rendered with more detail than I expected. The glue picked up a bit of dust over the weeks I worked on it. Minor things, but I’d still buy it again.

I picked this up on a whim and ended up really enjoying it. Full drill coverage means no blank canvas showing. Took longer than the estimated time, but that’s on me. It turned out better than I pictured. The artwork looks even better in person than the photos. Still worth it overall.

Ordered two kits, this was the one I finished first. The instructions were short but covered everything I needed. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. It fits perfectly with the decor in my craft room. Exactly what I wanted.

Bigger than it looks in the photos, which was a nice surprise. It’s the nicest thing I’ve made so far. I wish the printed legend was a little bigger. I’d recommend it with that one note.

Took it slow, a section at a time, and really enjoyed the process. The fabric has a good weight to it and hangs flat. The repetitive motion is oddly satisfying, one of those simple pleasures. It looks like a gallery print from across the room. Recommended without hesitation.

Bought this after finishing my last kit and it was a good call. The overall composition reads clearly from across the room. Spare drills were included, which I appreciated. The butterfly artwork looks great up on the wall. It took longer than the estimate, though that’s on me. It’s the sort of project that makes an evening feel well spent. It was worth every evening I put into it. Worth it, just go in with the right expectations.

A bigger project than I’ve done before, but so worth the time. The canvas didn’t dry out over the weeks I worked on it. Everything needed to finish was in the box, nothing extra to buy. A peaceful project that fits into whatever time you have. Everyone who sees it asks how long it took. This shop has a repeat customer in me.

I ordered this to fill a blank wall in the hallway. The canvas is a good weight with a detailed print underneath. I keep it by my chair and pick it up whenever I have a few minutes. The sorting tray is shallow, drills spill out if you’re not careful. Overall a good experience.

I framed it once finished and it looks like real artwork. The canvas is a good weight with a detailed print underneath. I set aside twenty minutes a night for this and it’s become a ritual. The winged detail is impressive up close. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

I hung it in the hallway and people always ask where I got it. The butterfly design is even prettier in person than in the photos. The symbols are quite small in the detailed areas. Color count is higher than my earlier kits, which shows in the finished piece. Once it was framed it really pulled the room together. Good kit overall, just a couple of small things.

I’ve bought from this shop a few times now and this is another good one. The glue is tacky enough that I can reposition if I misplace a drill. I like that it’s creative without requiring any decisions. Couldn’t be happier with it.
