Why This Bohemian Tray Earns Its Place on the Table

Here the Bohemian pattern is a layered boho composition of arches, fringed forms and repeated geometric motifs arranged in loose horizontal bands, worked through terracotta, sand and deep rust with flashes of teal across a warm neutral ground. The finished character is earthy and relaxed — deliberate, not accidental. Boho motifs suit rooms built on natural materials, where the earthy palette already does half the work. It suits a dining table that gets used every evening. Designed for living rooms with a warm, natural palette, it holds up as decor rather than as something you finish and put in a drawer. Reference CP11-2. The arches are left open rather than filled, which is what gives the composition its airy quality instead of a dense block Which keeps the design honest about what it is.

boho motifs suit rooms built on natural materials, where the earthy palette already does half the work. Which is the reason it works as well in living rooms with a warm, natural palette as it does anywhere else.

This is a DOTZSO tray kit for anyone who wants a useful piece of homeware at the end of it. The kit arrives with the printed wooden tray, DOTZSO resin drills, a tray, a comfort-grip pen, a wax caddy and step-by-step pictorial guidance.

Built to be used rather than displayed, the tray pairs a solid body with a fully seated and sealed drill face.

Drilling the face in full is what gives the tray its solid, finished feel.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 × printed wooden tray with cut-in handles
  • DOTZSO signature resin drills, sorted by colour (with extra drills included)
  • Diamond painting tray
  • Comfort-grip applicator pen
  • Wax caddy
  • Pictorial step-by-step instructions

How to Make It

  1. Lay the printed tray face flat and let it settle before starting.
  2. Find the legend strip and match the first symbol to its drill colour.
  3. Press the pen tip into the wax caddy, then touch it to a drill – the drill lifts and stays on the tip.
  4. Set the drill onto the matching printed symbol and press lightly. Work one colour block at a time rather than across the whole tray.
  5. Continue until the face is covered, then press the finished surface flat with a book for an hour to seat every drill.
  6. Seal the surface fully before the tray goes into service, or the drills will lift under a plate.

Finish the surface in stages, then seal it and start carrying things on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need to buy anything else to finish this wooden tray kit?

Yes. The Bohemian wooden tray kit ships complete with the wooden tray and cut-in handles; you drill the printed face and then the tray goes into service, plus the DOTZSO resin drills, tray, applicator pen, wax caddy and pictorial instructions. Nothing else needs sourcing. Reference CP11-2.

Does the Bohemian finish remain even with use?

Once the drills are seated and the surface is sealed, the Bohemian design holds under normal use. The surface is sealed, so it handles mugs and plates in normal use. Very hot pans straight from the hob are another matter — use a trivet, and the sealing step is the single biggest factor in how long the finish lasts. Nothing in the Bohemian assembly works loose under normal handling.

What care keeps the Bohemian design at its best?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not submerge it or put it through a dishwasher — the adhesive layer under the drills is not built for a soak. For the Bohemian palette, terracotta, sand and deep rust tones show dust less than pale grounds, so a light pass is usually enough. A soft brush reaches the texture between drills.

Is the drill pattern on the Bohemian wooden tray kit complete or selective?

The face is drilled across the whole surface, so the finished tray has complete coverage without bare wood showing. The Bohemian artwork is drawn so that a layered boho composition of arches reads clearly at any distance. All of the Bohemian face is drill-covered.

What is the typical completion time for the Bohemian design?

Plan for a few sessions rather than one. Working a single colour block at a time is faster than moving across the tray at random. The Bohemian design is earthy and relaxed, which tends to make it easier to work in short sessions. Progress on the Bohemian piece is visibly steady.

Which Bohemian size is most popular?

The range covers 7.8 × 11.8 in, 9.8 × 13.8 in and 12.2 × 16.1 in, so there is a format for a bedside table or a full dinner service. This listing is the 9.8×13.8 in format. Reference CP11-2.

Really impressed with how solid the tray feels. Surface is flat and level, glasses don’t wobble on it. I do it at the kitchen table while dinner simmers. Would definitely buy again.

This was a fun change of pace from the usual canvas kits. Nice finish on the wood, not rough or unfinished. Gave it as a housewarming gift and it was the favorite present. Great kit, no complaints.

Heavier and nicer in person than it looked online. The wood base has a nice weight to it, feels like real serveware. Holds two mugs and a plate easily. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

  4. Lucas D. (verified owner) –

The wood base is much sturdier than I expected. Wood feels solid, much better than the thin pressed board I’ve seen. Keeps my hands busy during long flights and hotel evenings. It’s on our ottoman and gets used for coffee every morning. Recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing craft.

  5. Daniela P. (verified owner) –

Really impressed with how solid the tray feels. Nice finish on the wood, not rough or unfinished. Took a bit longer to arrive than I expected. I do a section after work with a cup of tea and it’s a nice way to unwind. It’s the kind of project you feel good about finishing. Worth buying, just plan for those small quirks.

I use mine for morning coffee and it’s held up well. Handles make it easy to carry from the kitchen to the couch. Some colors came with barely any extras, though I didn’t run out. It’s a slow, quiet hobby and I like that about it. Overall a good experience.

I’ve bought from this shop a few times now and this is another good one. The wax and pen that came with it worked fine right out of the box. Colors are distinct enough that I never mixed two shades up. I keep it by my chair and pick it up whenever I have a few minutes. It gets used daily and still looks new. Happy customer here.

  12. Cheryl Stone –

I keep a project going at all times and this is the current one. There were extra drills left over in every color when I finished. Packaging was tidy and nothing had spilled in transit. Did most of it over a long weekend and it was such a pleasant way to pass the time. It’s the piece that made the entryway feel finished. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

I’ve wanted one of these trays for ages and finally made one. Drill colors are well separated, no squinting to tell two shades apart. The adhesive held well across several weeks of working on it. I keep it by my chair and pick it up whenever I have a few minutes. The finished piece looks far more expensive than the kit cost. Solid kit, would order again.

Ordered this to corral jewelry and it does the job in style. Everything was bagged and labeled, so setup took five minutes. The drill shapes were clean, not many chipped or stuck-together pieces. It’s a calm, repetitive hobby and that’s exactly what I wanted. It holds far more than I expected. Solid choice, no regrets.
